On Point, on Top, in Pain
By MANOHLA DARGIS

Published: December 2, 2010

A witchy brew of madness and cunning, “Black Swan” tells the story of a ballerina who aches, with battered feet and an increasingly crowded head, to break out of the corps. Played by Natalie Portman in a smashing, bruising, wholly committed performance, the young dancer, Nina, looks more like a child than a woman, her flesh as undernourished as her mind. When she goes to bed at night, a nearby jewelry box tinkling “Swan Lake,” a crowd of stuffed animals watches over her, longtime companions that — as Nina and this dementedly entertaining film grow more unhinged — begin to look more like jailers than friends.

okk well i just got back from seeing this movie, and let me say that i think it was incredible! however, it was extremely disturbing. I myself am a big fan of horror movies and the blood and guts that comes along with 'em. Now this movie seriously made me squirm in my seat a little bit. But still, the movie was fantastic and Natalie Portman was excellent! She definitely deserves the oscar!

^^^

I can't wait to see it. Comes out in my area next friday.

i'm driving to austin tomorrow to see it! :)

I'm sure it will be worth the drive. I have a friend in NYC that usually watches movies online or waits for the DVD but he says anyone who doesn't catch this on a big screen is a fool...|

i saw it today. damn.

damn. damn. DAMN!

that was easily the best movie i've seen all year. it was also the most genuinely interesting film i've seen all year. it completely surpassed my expectations and to be honest i'm still thinking about it.

portman gave one of her best performances to date and aranofsky was brilliant.

AMAZING! Just got back from seeing it...so many emotions from it....I walked into the empty bathroom after the movie ended and complete paranoia set in...then as I was walking to my car and was freaked out...then while driving home wanted to cry thinking about it...then I got a little turned on thinking about how hot Mila Kunis was...lol

It was cringe inducing for sure....some parts I definitely closed my eyes for a second...but man was it just absolutely beautifully shot....wow

I would for sure see it again

i kinda wanna see it again too! ya know to understand it more just in case i nissed anything from the first time :)

This film was amazing!!!! The last thirty minutes of the film were incredible. Natalie Portman was great and I liked Mila Kunis's character. The mother really had issues.

I guess I was so caught up in all the hype that I was expecting to be blown away, devastated.

It was a very good movie, with good performances but I would give it 3 out of 4 stars.

Social network remains a better film for me this year.
