Blink-182 is Back!!!

And a collective wail of anguish goes up from fans of real punk, everywhere.

I liked "Stay Together For the Kids" cuz I was dealing with similar issues at the time. As I got older I realized how creepy it is to have grown ass men singing about teen angst. Then again, I guess that was their target audience, teens. They seem like the 40 year olds who come to their 17 year old nephew's graduation party, get drunk, jump off the roof screaming "Woooooo!" and hit on his female classmates.

I cant wait for the new album, they were like the soundtrack to my teenage years, i was a skater and all, ahh, good times..

I for one am not excited! Now I can't say I saw their last tour ever. To be honest I've gotten over Blink 182 during their departure. Sure I still enjoy their songs but if they never recorded again I wouldn't feel any different to now.

as long as Mark Hoppus is doing all the singing I'm fine with them being back....never ever liked Tom Delonge's nasally whiny voice

WAHOO blink-182 is back. I found this out monday morning when I received an email from them.

I was wondering if someone would make a thread about it too. I think 3 days before the grammy's it was rumored that they were getting back together. BUT THIS IS GREAT.

New album and new tour. My favorite blink-182 album's are "Dude Ranch" and "Selt Titled" album. But they've been appearing in music video games and I have also enjoyed AvA and +44. Although I like AvA more.

AvA will still continue at least which is good becuase I still like AvA. And they still plan on releasing their third album. I have no idea about the I-Empire Movie. It seems that +44 is done for though.

Anyways. They also have discounted shirts and hoodies on the blink182 website. I wanna get that awesome new hoody.

I think the new platinum smiley face is interesting. This one has 6 arrows instead of 5. And the rainbow metallic is kinda cool. I hope they play in Atlanta.

I cannot say that I am excited, but I am interested to see in which direction they'll go. In other words, what kind of audience will be their target?

Well seeing as how their earlier albums were more of a punk rock thing and with each new album their sound changed slightly. Until their final Self Titled album which had a completely different sound and tone. They can either do an album similar to their self titled album or bring back more of their old sound. But in some ways +44 and AvA sort of halves blink-182 and if you listen to both of those bands it might give you an idea of the sound that might be on their new album.

But who knows. As for what kind of audience. That's an interesting question. They could either direct it towards new fans, old fans, or both.

Their next new album is going to be very interesting. And I can't wait til their tour.

Hmm.I just noticed something interesting.

The new logo. The top part is blue and the bottom part is gold. And there is a white shinning streak in the middle of it which almost halves it. In some ways that logo could represent one half being +44, one halve being AvA and then the logo as a whole representing the reformation of blink-182.

I wonder if that was their reason for the logo. That would explain the sixth arrow as well.

As opposed to.

that's exactly what i was thinking.

if they're going to break into todays market they're going to have to bring something new. i was never really a fan of theirs when everyone in my 8 grade class did.

Even though you weren't alot of people were. And some people diddn't care about them. Although with your situation it was opposite for me. When I was listening to their music in middle and high school. No one really gave a fuck about them. About me and 3 other people would listen to them on the bus and during class sometimes. Everyone else was listening to something else and what they considered better.

Alot of bands that we have today are here because of blink-182.

So it will be interesting to see if they do go back to their roots or bring something new. I still think that no one has done something like their self titled album though. Although, alot of bands have done stuff similar to their earlier work. So maybe they will go with a new sound. I hope they start releasing some kind of demos or ep's soon so we can have an idea of what they will sound like.

Okay. Just wanted to specify because I feel that you might call me out if they formed before 2000 but are still on going past 2000.

The All-American Rejects
Fall Out Boy
JET
My Chemical Romance
Paramore
Angels & Airwaves
The Academy Is

Madina Lake and Saosin are coming out with their second album this year though.

Also a few bands I know did form in the late 90's but did not release an album til the 0's. Although if an EP counts as an album.

Also those bands I consider punk rock and pop punk. I don't like to get rock, hard rock, grunge, metal, heavy metal, and etc. get mixed in with punk, pop, and punk rock.

But yeah those bands I listed are pretty good and they are pop punk/punk rock and formed in the 0's.

:P

Well Fall Out Boy, JET, and MCR are somewhat Alternative. But it's really tricky to use that word because there is actually a "TRUE" alternative general. But sometimes if it can't be decided if something is pop, punk, rock, or whatever it's labelled as alternative.

I'd say MCR is more punk. Fall Out Boy is more of Pop Rock. And Jet is more Rock or maybe a little alternative.

You mean AVA and AAR?

Oh. So that's why you don't like punk that much. You are more of a metalhead huh. You can like both. For the most part you might be right though. I thought there were alot more bands that formed after 2000. But I think for the most part they formed in the 90's but still continue today in the 0's.

Yes! I'm very happy about this. I'm really looking forward to the new stuff. The newest song willed be called "Up All Night" apparently. It's seems like a fun sort of a title, which is only fitting I guess.

The Punk snobs are still hating  but I know who I'd rather have out of Blink-182 (who are at least fun) and the likes of My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy (not to mention Good Charlotte and Simple Plan).

Darn those punk snobs *shakes fist*

YES I heard about that. I think the single is going to come out this sunday.

They are coming to my town in September but I can't see them because of school dammit. T_T'

Also AvA's album is coming out at the end of this year :D

A like-minded person finally.

I hope the new single's good. I'm sure it will be. I also hope that their performances improve a little bit, but then again I only saw the ones before their upcoming tour. They were probably just dusting off the cobwebs a bit.
