Bob Barker to retire from The Price Is Right

The fossil is older than the condom stuffed in my top drawer.

I believe the show (which existed long before Bob Barker became host) has the longest run of any quiz show ever. And though the above quote is entirely true, it must be admitted that he and "Price" fit together extremely well. It has always been obvious that he LOVES his work, and he makes the show interesting...and fun!

I feel that it will be difficult to replace him effectively, and keep the show as highly-rated as it is. I don't think there's anybody else out there, regardless of how young or old they are, who can follow his footsteps.

I remember that show!!! Didn't a city change its name to Truth Or Consequences?
I also remember his wife Dorthy Jo being on that show. I thought she reminded me of Joan Crawford...maybe it was the eyebrows. She passes away many, many years ago. I don't think he ever remarried.

In fact, there have been a couple of scandals (and rumors) about he
and his 'Barker's Beauties' over the years, about how they got their jobs,
and how they were treated afterward.

In fact, there was a huge lawsuit between one of them, (Janice something,
I think) and Mr. Barker that led to an out of court settlement for an 'undisclosed amount' which almost always means 'something' happened.

I'm sure if you Goggled long enough you could find out more, but I prefer to
just labor under the illusion that he's just the guy on 'The Price is Right'.

It was actually Dian Parkinson who tried to sue Bob, not the one you're thinking of, Janice Pennington.

LOL, I've heard a lot of jokes, innuendos, etc. about Bob over the years but this is definitely a first. Nah, he's straight as an arrow.

Janice sued the show over age discrimination. Despite staying in fantastic shape which easily covered the appearance clause of her contract, she was let go because she was in her 40's and all the newer Beauties were much younger. Holly had been fired previously but she had put on so much weight that they were within her rights.
Recall that Janice (and Anitra) were the original Barker's Beauties from '72.
