  • Hi Guest - Some things to know about this forum:
If you're new, please read the Posting Guidelines. Banned content is in "List of Content Never Allowed on JUB".
The most important thing to know: images of persons under 18 years old are never allowed here. If you cannot verify that the person in the picture is 18 years or older, don't post it.

Boys of 16 y o

Hmmm..... I can think of various reasons... For example he is still not 18 therefor he can not legally sign that kind of contract....right?!
Can you explain then why a person of 16 in the UK can open a bank account on their own. Or why a person of 16 can get a job. Surely those are also types of contracts?

asianlover, ignore the sarcastic remarks. I can think of two reasons. The first is that the law in the UK simply hasn't caught up yet (yes, I believe that if you're legally old enough to have sex then you should be allowed to use your body to make money...short of prostitution of course). Secondly, even if the laws did change in the UK they wouldn't change in the rest of the world and the benchmark age just seems to be 18. I wouldn't reckon you should look forward to seeing 16 year olds any time soon.

How about some sensible, reasonably considered responses to people's questions instead of the sarcasm dealt out by dalimili?

The laws regarding the age of consensual sex in the UK are different laws to those regarding pornography.

Whilst a 16yr old can have sex, for the purpose of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the definition of a child is someone under 18yrs old. Within the meaning of that act, it is illegal to create, possess, distribute etc indecent images of a 'child'. The images do not have to be naked for them to be deemed indecent, they could be harmless holiday photos (and some families have found themselves interviewed by police for these!)

Some countries have no such laws regarding images of minors, which is why many 'westernised' countries have the words 'possession, distibution, copying' etc written into their own laws to make it illegal for images of under18s from other countries to be handled.

And has already been pointed out, this of course has become the benchmark age for the internet.

Whilst I can accept the frustration felt by some teenagers that they can't see naked images of young people their own age, a 'cut-off' age has to be made and adhered to.

The legal age of majority or adulthood in the UK is 18, as it is in most countries. However, specific laws permits many things for those not yet adults - at age 14 you can enter a pub, at age 16 marry or smoke, at age 17 drive. Sexual consent to any activity can be given at 16 but the age at which you can see an X-rated film in a cinema or pornography or appear in the latter is the age of majority - 18. You cannot sign a legally binding contract for many things without the consent of your parents until you are 18.

This thing of having to be 18 to be in pornography is not national but international - no one legal is going to make pornography with under 18s anyway as it cannot legally be viewed in the biggest single market, USA, without proof of age, or indeed in most other countries, so the market would be hugely diminished.

Perhaps it is a case of slowly introducing a teenager to things and give them breathing space to get used to the new freedoms. The changes that have occurred to the age of consent etc have been changed to match public opinion.

To my knowledge there has never been a real push by any group to change x-rated movie age of consent. Tho there must have been one at some stage and it was done very quietly. The only thing I could do growing up under the age of 21 was drive a car ("18") and go to Vietnam and get shot (17). Everything else you had to be 21.

I think they have got the mix about right and perhaps the public agrees.

It is an odd one I admit, imagine this situation. You are a 17yo, dating a 19yo>
One night while having sex, your boyfriend takes a picture of the loving rumpy pumpy on his mobile/cell phone.

Even though hes been boning your ass senceless for the past year, he has just broken the law, technicly making child porn

After dumping his load in your cute little behind, he shows you the photograph, and sends you a picture to your phone. Now your a criminal too, you are in posestion of child porn.

Ive always though its a gray area, you can have sex at 16, but not watch two other people doing it untill youre two years older.

Things like this have always puzzled me. When I was 16 i could buy ciggys over the counter, and yet I had to be 18 to buy nicotine patches.

The Law is a shady area - two boys fooling around before 16 is hardly ever, ever brought up in court - and neither should it be, all boys experiment that's just life.

If two 16 year olds decide they wish to engage in gay sex then that's fine and legal.

But my concern is why would you wish to watch two 16 year olds finding themselves? The fixation with a specific age-group is often a worrying indicator of other things. Let the boys be - when they're old enough to decide that they wish to pose naked at 18 - and that's a perfectly acceptable age - then they will go for it if they so choose.
