Braces...Ugh

I've had braces for about 2.5 years and I just had them taken off last week! What every one else says is true: the first few days of getting your braces your teeth hurt like crazy and you really don't feel like eating. I pretty much ate whatever I wanted--besides gum and really hard foods because I was scared. Just be careful when you eat and it should be fine!

I actually went for an Invisalign consul the other day. It was only $500 more than regular braces (6500 vs 6000). The dentist said I was not the ideal candidate, but it would certainly be effective. He warned I might need braces for a few months at the end of the procedure to perfect everything (included in the price). I'm probably gonna go forward with Invisalign, in spite of some of the drawbacks (ie. more time needed, harder to get perfection).

I've never had braces, but I am seeing guy right now who has them. Not a draw back for me at all.
And as far as his performance, if they're holding him back, I'd really love to see what he could do without them!

hi folks,
i just had an extra bracket behind a tooth to protect my front teeth from breaking the bottom's. then i found out i can't eat. my teeth don't touch so i can't bite. do you have any tip? my orthodontic doesn't work sunday. i'm sick of eating yogurt.

thanks.

Keep in mind that you can have the bracket colours changed to coincide with holidays. Black and orange for Halloween, green and red for Christmas, you could have been all green for St Pattys day ;)

Don't worry Mark, you look just as good now as you did before. Handsome handsome.

I had a retainer for 2 years and I could have had fixed braces but I just stopped going to the appointments. My teeth are fine. All the teeth are perfectly straight except for the front two teeth on the top and bottom rows overlap very slightly which isn't at all noticeable.
And as for braces interfering with things, my friend had them, kissed a girl and cut her lip...
But I think it was just because he is a bad kisser.

I never had braces, but for as long as I can remember I have been attacted to guys with braces. I mean, even in middle school when I was into girls, I like braces on them. I just think they are so sexy. And I love kissing a man with braces and running my tongue over them.

I think it depends on what you look like but if it was someone with blue eyes dark hair and blue tracks on your braces i think i would actually like it :S .. i had braces when i was 13 till 15 and they did me the world of good my teath look like celebrities and the dentist gave me a special toothpaste which made them almost luminos white :D

Nothin wrong wit a guy with braces! My crush used to have them and I was actually really saddened when he got them taken off! lol.

From what I recall from having worn braces a few years ago, you can eat most things, but beware of the following:

1. Don't bite into things like whole peaches, carrots, and apples, because that can damage the wires. It's best to cut them up and eat the smaller pieces.

2. Don't drink soda, which would be good advice anyhow. Soda breaks down the bonds on your brackets, and you will be forever visiting your doctor to have them re-glued. If you want the fizz effect, try Juice Squeeze or some carbonated fruit juices without artificial coloring and weird chemicals. I'm glad that I got cured of drinking soda when I had braces. I don't really miss it.

3. Stay away from chewing gum, regardless of whether it's sugarless.

4. Use mouthwash before brushing to remove annoying food bits, then brush and rinse with mouthwash again. Foods that will drive you crazy include breads (which turn to doughy blobs between the wires), citrus (pieces of pulp get stuck in the wires), and apple skin bits.

The initial pains from having separators installed, or from new wires, go away within a few days, but you will initially find it hard to chew at first.

Don't worry about your looks. I remember a guy in high school who had them, and he was adorable. Of course, he also had a really nice ass, but I digress.
