Britney Spears

I read an article earlier today that said the majority of the audience enjoyed the show. I'll try to find it.

Well I'm sure most of the audience DID enjoy the show, which is what prompted the MSNBC article about the standards for pop listeners these days.

Oh, well if US Weekly, a glorified tabloid, is praising her...welcome back!

Do you have any links to other reviews actually praising that mess? Not just articles about the concert, but actual critical reviews.

I can't honestly see how someone would enjoy 15 minutes of lip synching, unless they were told they were coming to a high school talent show.
Actually yes. It says a lot when a trashy tabloid misses the opportunity to make a juicy negative headline that sells and praises Britney freaking Spears.

There's a few more positive reviews I read today (The Sun, Pinkisthenewblog etc) but I'm guessing it doesn't count because they're not that analytical. I really hope you don't consider MSNBC much better than those sources though, that place's become a joke.

As for the last pagagraph, don't ask me. It looks like it was horrible. It honestly looks like the only reason she did that little concert is to show her body's still hot.

I really hate when performers lip-sync. I just don't get the point. If you can't sing live (or choose not to) then just dance. Don't insult me by trying to make it look like you are singing. It's better that I just know that I can continue to buy Britney Spears' CD's and don't need to see her live.

That's actually a really good point.

she looked tired and second guessing herself on the moves.

is this 4 date tour really needed???

i read that msn concert report, it was very bitchy.

You know people will always criticize her no matter what she does. But who cares? This is her first time performing in 3 years! She is the most anticipated comeback of all time, more than MJ and Whitney. Those reports mught be complaining about her lip-synching but if you watched News Broadcasts interview the people who were there, they all loved it and didnt care that she lip-synched. She is just getting started and I guess it's hard for people to give her credit after amazing performances she made on tour and at the VMAs.

It seems to me that the article was attacking the fans more than Britney. Of course I have always thought that articles that criticize someone's performance should be really well written, which this one is not. So, I don't know how much stock I put into this one.

That said, do you think that she would have been criticized less if she had done a free show? I'm all for giving her some slack because she hasn't performed in a while, but I think the point some people are making is that $125 for 15 minutes of "let me just see if I can still get in front of an audience" is a little much. And, yes, you can argue that people are willing to pay, so why not. But, it doesn't make a good case for repeat customers.

They are playing "Toxic" on the radio now (!)

If she would of done it for free they would of just found something else to complain about.
