Ok...hope I'm not boring anyone but I had to get this off my chest.
Yesterday it seems I ticked off someone at another website by suggesting he was being a little hard on CBS for not having more gay characters in it's TV shows.
He seems to think ABC is god's gift all us gays and the shinning example of how gay should be treated on TV.

What he hasn't noticed is that it appears his favorite network is about to pull the plug on his favorite show: Brothers and Sisters.

ABC has a long history of getting rid of shows it thinks have reached the limit on how many new viewers it can draw to the network. It's part of reason they wanted to get rid of Ugly Betty.

Brothers and Sister has reached the highest number of viewers it's likely to reach. They just announced that Rob Lowe would be leaving to star in his own series this fall. It's clear ABC thinks Rob Lowe is the show's prime assest. (I disagree, I find him boring) Ken Olin (remember him from thirtysomething?) is a producer and has a small role on the show. Ken went on The Bonnie Hunt Show to ask people to continue to watch the show.

All of this says to me that Brothers and Sisters is in trouble and I've worked in TV a long time. I would really like to point this out this guy at the other website, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't even consider I might be right.

I know you're reading this thinking...who gives a good fuck. And you're right. I just needed to write it down somewhere. Thanks for listening.

Nice post I enjoyed reading that.
To answer your question, Brothers and Sisters will be back.
Rob Lowe won't be back he is leaving in May and some are suggesting that his decision to leave is due to the fact that Calista Flockhart, who as you know plays his wife, will be working a reduced schedule next season. ABC had said they were planning to kill off one of the main characters next season and Rob made it easy for them to decide which one that would be. Rob felt his character and screen time would suffer as a result of Calista's reduced screen time.
In addition There was a plan to have Joe Jonas play a role in a flashback as a young Tommy but as of now has fallen through. The role will be played by Cody Longo

Hmm...I didn't know about Calista Flockhart working a reduced schedule next season.

The two actors ABC clearly believes to be the stars of show...one is leaving and the other will only be there part of time.

That really increases that chances that this is Brothers and Sisters last season.

I don't believe ABC feels Rob and Calista are the stars at all....I mean I would tend to think they would see the stars as the ones winning/getting nominated for awards(Sally Field and Rachel Griffith)...I believe the show has gone down hill this season(mainly due to the Robert/Kitty storyline)...but believe it will return. And if they pull off the flashback episode I think it will help them get back on track

Absolutely right. I m soo tired of Rob and Calista and I doubt anyone will miss them.
They need to change it up a bit perhaps bring in some new writers with fresh ideas before it dissolves into the drek that is Desperate Housewives.

I love watching this show. Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths are both great actresses. I hope this show stays on the air for several more seasons. It's a much better show than Desperate Housewives.
I didn't know Calista Flockhart is working a reduced schedule next season. I'm surprised, since this is her first series after Ally McBeal. Which was a long time ago. I also didn't know that Rob Lowe was getting his own series.

What I like about this show is how the characters function TOGETHER. When I think of an ensemble cast this show comes to mind. I hope it stays around for another season.

I would.
As someone else said, it's the interaction that does it for me. I like scenes where McCallister (forgot his name) and the mother (shit. hers aswell. weird) interact, or scenes with kevin, kitty and sarah together. apart from sally field and rachel griffiths maybe being the better actresses, I also think kitty is the most interesting character. But that's just me, obviously.

But Tommy's gone and nobody misses him. The writing for a good ensemble cast should make this easy to do. Less Kitty and Robert is not a bad thing, unless of course it means more Justin and Rebecca.
