So I was showering and was curious to check my bum out in the mirror and when I spread my cheeks to see my anus. I spotted a ball shaped bump on the side of my anus...I felt it and its soft and feels kinds like a nerv/vain but I was shocked to see it. It doesn't hurt at all and don't think its an STD cause I've never had a penis up there...any thoughts?

sounds like an external hemorrhoid, see a doctor

Yep, sounds about right. Hemorrhoids are "varicose veins" and will go away on their own most of the time. They can be brought on by physical strain, or even dehydration. You can grab an over the counter cream to help get rid of it (the famous Preparation-H and Proctosedyl spring to mind). If it hangs around too long, see a doctor about getting it lanced (ie. sliced open/removed). It's a very minor procedure, nothing to freak out about.

Unfortunately I've had too much experience with them, as I've been prone to them since early childhood. Since you're not in pain, I'd go the cream first, but if you're worried, a visit to the doctor should put your mind at ease.

Thanks. I actually have a doctors appointment this coming week, so I'll bring it up. I've been looking at this thing all day and even though there's no discomfort, It's bugging the heck out of me. This is going to sound weird, but I've been trying to see it from different angles and I've noticed that when I'm bent over is when it's severely noticeable and if on of my legs is lift up my anus looks normal...weird?

U dont need to see a doctor for that because they go away on their own , just put some Preparation H on it. Takes about two weeks to go away.

I got one before when I was lifting heavy things from work and straining too hard.

sure sounds like a hemorrhoid like the others have stated. I've had them a few times. if it's not painful I wouldn't worry too much about it. stop playing around with it. the more you look the worse its going to seem. I found taking a hot bath a couple of times a day really helped. A hemorrhoid is a blood clot that has formed in a vein around the anus. The hot water helps get more blood to the area so your body can dissolve the clot on its own. If you have your dr. appt for something else go ahead and have him take a look at it but really theres not much to worry about.

Steven.

Thanks for the ease of mind guys. I appreciate it :)

It's a hemorrhoid. I have them too.

You might still want to see a doctor so you can get prescription cream though. It helps a lot better than over the counter products.

Take epsom salt baths once a day if you can.
