Burial Announces New Single

Burial is rounding off 2012 with another new transmission.

A new single from the reclusive producer will arrive on December 17. According to Boomkat, the release will feature two new tracks (titles to be confirmed) clocking in at a collective 25 minutes. The single will arrive on 12″ vinyl and CD.

More details as and when we have them.

Tracklisting:
TBC (11.45)
TBC (13.47)

"Earlier this month, Hyperdub announced that they would be releasing a new Burial EP, One / Two.

It’s now emerged that the real track titles are ‘Truant’ and ‘Rough Sleeper’ (label boss Kode9 tweeted this earlier today), and clips of both sides can be heard below.

On the basis of the clips, ‘Truant’ is the slower of the two tracks, with a similarly liberal approach to needle-on-vinyl sampling and cutting as in this year’s Kindred EP. ‘Rough Sleeper’, on the other hand, appears faster, with a saxophone sample that’s already stuck in our heads. Since the tracks are lengthy (11.45 and 13.47 respectively), there’s only so much that justice 60-second clips can do."

DEALER

The music of Burial has always had a cinematic quality, none more so than last year’s out-of-nowhere Rival Dealer. Fittingly, the EP’s ten-minute title track has inspired a short film by UK director Ben Dawkins, a tale of underworld uncertainty with shades of Gaspar Noé’s Irreversible and Guy Ritchie’s early films.

“Director Ben Dawkins got in touch asking us if he could use ‘Rival Dealer’ by Burial to make a short film that has been inspired by the track. We said he could, and his interpretation is exciting and beautifully made,” writes Hyperdub.
