Today when I pissed I felt a strong burning sensation. I have felt this a few times before when peeing but never as strong as it felt today.

Isn't this a symptom of herpes? I never noticed any marks, breakouts or any sign of any disease on my dick. It looks fine, but is this something I should be worried about and is it serious? It doesn't happen all the time when I piss. Just sometimes.

Is it a urinary infection symptom or could it be herpes??? Cus if it's herpes I'd be fucked.....

Herpes is usually described as being a mix of numbness and burning on the surface of the penis. It is similar to the sensation of a developing cold sore on the lip. It does not vary when you pee and it is not on the inside of the penis- only the outside.

The sensation you describe is more likely to be urethritis (an infection of the urethra) or the passing of a small calculus (aka kidney stone). If you have had this sensation often, you should have a urinalysis done to determine if you have a urethral infection or if you passing small stones.

Thanks. Anything is better than herpes. :)

As in stones, do they really look like small stones when you pee? What would it look like?

Sounds like a urinary tract infection to me , try drinking lots of water and cranberry juice and see if that helps.

Sounds like an STI to me.

Why not go to the docs rather than sharing it with your next sexual partner?

Yeah, pretty much, They look like little white/yellowish kinda stones from what I've seen. I'm sure you could Google image search them too.

But if they are real small, you may not notice them in the toilet. They just cause irritation to the urethra thus causing a burning sensation, and are often caused by inadequate fluid intake. Something you may want to make your primary health care provider aware of.

As a health care provider, I will say that getting any medical advice online isn't a great idea. Without a proper physical examination and full medical history at the very least, there is no way to properly diagnose most any medical condition. Don't wait until the pain takes you to your knees or you're not able to void at all, call and set up an appointment to get checked. Most people don't get regular check-ups frequently enough anyway.

Often, they are very small- as small as a grain of sand.

But the more important thing is to see your doctor and get a urinalysis and STI screen. It's very likely your pain is a non-specific urethritis and that you've picked up a minor urinary tract infection that's easily treatable with a round of antibiotics.

^ yep, that makes sense. See a doc to figure out what it is. And until you do stay from sex with anyone.
It's probably not serious but you don't know until you see a doc. And why take the risk of passing it to someone else?

I don't have health insurance. I doubt it's a STI or STD. Maybe I can go to the free clinic and they can help me.

That happens to me too, but only when I pee after having ejaculated a few minutes before. All other times are normal.

Hmm, let me get this straight. You started off (post#1) worrying it was herpes - which is an STI.

Now you dont think its an STI?

I think you need to stop thinking and start going to the doc.

Also, I don't know what age you are but it could also be a case of acute prostatitis, if you also have any other pains around your pelvic region.

Go to the Docs ;)

type in your symptoms and it will give you all possible causes, might help you narrow it down so if it is something you can treat yourself with over the counter medication then you dont need to worry about the doctor.

however, since you have already had it for a few days its not something that will disappear on its own, if its persists you WILL need to see a doctor. (especially since its something you say you've experience before)

a sound medical opinion is always the best idea, i think there are a few med students hanging around the boards, see if you can find one

If there is a free men's clinic in your community, they will usually offer services on a sliding scale. I know in DC they have two nights a week that they offer free screens for no payment; during the day you make an appointment and pay based on income which can be $0 up to the cost of the service.

Get tested (and this is meant for everyone) regularly. It only takes a few minutes but you can then be sure you don't have something and will not be passing something along. The HIV and syphillis test is done via blood and it only pricks for a second. Usually you'll get the results back in 20 minutes and you have a peace of mind (your symptoms don't indicate any open sores so it probably is not syph).

For chlamydia, you pee in a cup and will probably have a swab done of your throat, anal, and possibly the urethra if there are symptoms (burning sensation). Most men don't even know they have chlamydia and in 7 to 10%, the pee test does not show the STD because the urine kills the bacteria. It'll take one to two weeks to get the tests back (although the urethral swab will come back within an hour positive or negative). You have a shot and four to seven days of antibiotics and it's cured.

Gonnherea has the same symptoms as chlamydia but you will usually notice a pussy discharge (it is usually not clear like cum). It has a burning sensation as well. People with either are at a higher risk to have HIV.

Again, the antibiotic treatment will cure. The clinic may give you the shot the night you visit based on the swab and symptoms but a doctor needs to check. I know at the clinic in DC the shot and antibiotics are free but we had to have a doctor prescribe and treat; the city subsidizes the cost. For those who could pay, I think the antibiotic was less than $100 (I think we charged $50 or $60) and I don't remember what the shot cost since it has been awhile since I helped out. As I said, two nights it was free and the rest of the time was a sliding scale.

Herpes will usually have sores...like cold sores...or pimples. It can break out when you are under stress or have too much sex.

A urethral infection will imitate chlamydia and gonnherea.

I've only had a stone one time in my life and all I can say is it feels like you have to pee all the time but when you do, it just dribbles out. It felt like someone was pinching my dick shut and yet I could feel pressure building that I wanted to pee out. It hurt all the way up into my stomach (or that's how it felt).

I still remember when I passed it, it was like someone let go of the squeeze and I pissed with such a relief it wasn't funny. The thing was so little, I couldn't believe it and, fortunately, have had no recurrence!
