Not that Windows 8 will go away after christmas, but now I'm really in need of a new computer. Should I still wait one month in hope the prices will drop or should I go for the christmas craze?

I have my eyes on an all-in-one PC (Windows, not OSX) and I'm not sure if these will have a huge price drop as it's a niche market.

If you can wait a bit longer (2-3 months) you should. The current crop of Windows 8 hardware is lackluster, to be kind. New, and better designed, hardware is coming.

But why go with Windows 8? Isn't is still in beta basically?

My 2c...
I will not buy into W8 until I can replace my entire system... this being inclusive of a touch-capable display.

The asus one looks really nice .. unless you want to play games ;)

My current system is a Core2Duo with built-in graphics card and 2MB RAM. The most recent FPS that runs on it is Call of Duty 2 (the very first one)... so any new computer is probably better than mine.

My patience wasn't rewarded... they took the computer I preferred out of their product line

I've been through all the iterations of Windows and Win 8 is smooth like butter. It takes some getting used to, because I am using it on a regular desktop PC with a keyboard and mouse, but it works wonderfully well. Next year I'll be getting the Surface Pro so I'll be able to experience Win 8 using touch the way it was meant to be.

I find if you shop around enough, you can find great deals on PCs anytime of year. Just be patient.

Now I found this one:
http://www.terraworldltd.com/pc/business/4469.html

Downside:
- looking sexy from the front, from the side it looks like they shoved a usual mainboard inside
- doesn't come with keyboard and mouse for that price
- the monitor stand looks flimsy

I might also go for this MSI model then, which has similar specs. This one from Acer looks good too, but it just seems to have tablet technology packed into a bigger monitor.

Yikes. Avoid that Terra. Its only got integrated graphics, which won't be enough for a computer like that. (they barely are adequate on some laptops now)

Integrated graphics are fine depending on what you want to use it for. But that Terra really is totally overpriced.

That's what I meant. For that price, integrated graphics are unacceptable. If it was a $400 laptop, it wouldn't be a big deal.
