If you have all the songs on your current harddrive, then yes, you can sync with the new iPod.

If you only have the music stored on your iPod, you can transfer to your desktop easily on Windows by choosing to show hidden folders and dragging the tracks to your desktop. These can then be added to your iTunes library and synced.

There was a thread like this a few weeks ago. Try a search for it.

I'm having a new problem now. In my old version of Itunes, I was able to copy songs from my library and paste it into my Ipod folder.

I downloaded the new 7.5 and I am able to copy the songs but can't paste it into my folder. Is this new version different?
are u on a Mac or pc?

I think you can still do that if you check 'manually manage' on your iPod settings in iTunes.

You can make a playlist and have your iPod sync automatically with it whenever connected. You can modify this playlist when your iPod is connected or not, and when you do connect it, it'll carry out any changes since the last sync. That's what I do, I have my iPod set to sync with the playlist and when I wanna trade or change songs, it's taken care of when I reconnect.

[STRIKE]iPodrip worked great for me.[/STRIKE]

Oops, I didn't really read the topic until after I posted. Itunes didn't ask you if you wanted to import your music into itunes, because it did that for me.

if you don't have a program designed to rip songs from an iPod to a computer, you can do it manually.

just plug in your iPod and then (if you're using a PC/Windows) in the My Computer double click the iPod icon and you'll see 4 folders. right click the "iPod_Control" folder and choose "Properties" then uncheck the box next to "hidden" and click Apply. when it is finished double click the iPod_Control folder and then open the Music folder. all your songs are there. they won't be sorted, they'll just have numerical tags, but if you drag the folders into iTunes it will give them titles and such.

that might not be helpful to you, but i figured it might be some good info for anyone coming into this thread looking for a way to get music off of their iPod.
