Next to Susan Lucci's Erika Kane, Cady McClain's Dixie Cooney Martin is certainly the most loved character on the 37-year-old daytime drama.

But all good things must come to an end and the actress has been given her walking papers and will fall victim to the current slaughter in Pine Valley:

I've been watching the show for 14 years. Used to love it! Nowadays, it's absolute garbage and I'm doing good if I catch it once a week. My prediction is is that it -- not "Guiding Light," will be the next daytime drama given the heave-ho.

i don't think I've ever sat through an entire episode of AMC. I watch GL whenever I can though. It is really crap sometimes but some of the characters have been on a long time and the show has a lot of history, as does AMC. One Life to Live isn't doing so hot either I hear.
 
I have watched AMC since its inception ... at first, I was FORCED to sit thru it with my mother (now deceased) ... BUT; I got hooked on it and watch or dvr it every day ....
So; Dixie is going to get murdered ? I thought that the killer was only after Fusion people , especially Kendall .... to get at Zack ? Oh HELL ! I'm totally confused as usual .... lol ... I'll just have to keep on watching ..
 
I've been watching AMC since 1993, almost every day when I'm not traveling on business. The last few years have definitely seen a decline in writing. And too much focus on a few young characters.

I realize that the characters in AMC are not real, but if the show is canceled, I'll feel as if a group of "friends" has disappeared! :cry:
 
Thats the final nail in the coffin for me. I'm deleting AMC from my DVR record settings. The show has been absolute shit for the past year, getting rid of people and underusing others. Perhaps they should slaughter the writing staff and get new ones to pump in storylines people will actually follow! And they drag shit out FAR too long. The whole search for Kate, Kendall's hospital stay and birth of Spike, JR now in a wheelchair for how long now? Please.

I'll keep reading updates on the web from time to time, but I can't stomach watching this once good serial any longer.
 
COME ON!!! I have watched this show on and off since the 70's(my mom and grandma use to watch) and I have watched it at wk on soap net(more cause there is nothing on at midnight) AND sat through 5 years of Tad wishing on a star for Dixie and Dixie saint this or that. So finally she's back only to die?! AMC has gone down hill and i'm starting to hope Kendal gets it. She has turned into mega- bitch.The Zarf/Zoe story with turning Bianca "straight" is insulting. Sad thing is I will still watch cause there is nothing on that late at night and I need something at wk to pass the time! I will say that AMC does have the hottest cock I have ever seen! Everyone of those bastards is as hot as hell! I love all that eye candy!
 
Okay, so who's been killed off? I haven't been able to see it for about 2 months now. I know that one whiny girl from Fusion and then Ryan's sister, but who else?
 
Dannie Frye (police chief's daughter) is in the hospital. They got her just in time to pump her stomach. They're going to put her in hiding and have her aunt (the attorney) pretend to be her in order to catch the killer who might be "Kenny", former Fusion attorney.

Maybe some ABC exec. is reading this ??!! If so, you need to use your middle aged actors more and bring back Brooke English. ..|
 
One more thing... does anyone really care about the Susan Lucci story line Jack/Erica/jeff ? They are like 70 years old! And it's funny how caddy McClain is only 10 years older than her son! Jacob Young is great but I'm tired of everyone worshiping Babe! I think JR and Jamie should hook up. NICE!!!!*|* (and they are not blood related since Tad is JR'S step dad and Brooke is Jamie's mom)
 
Frankly, I was tired of anything "JR." I just want Colin Egglesfield (Josh) to have more screen/skin time. Josh is a very complex character that could drive some major story lines. Not to mention he's hot as all hell.

What's this about Bianca going 'straight'? That freaky Zarf guy had just arrived when I had to stop watching.

I have completely given up on AMC. Soap Opera Digest, in its "Best And Worst" issue, named it the worst soap on the air. They lost me when they got rid of 30-year veteran Brooke without even giving her a goodbye scene. And why bring back fan fave Dixie only to kill her off? Hopefully, Cady goes back to ATWT, where she won an Emmy as Rosanna.
 
Sad enough All My Children has probably "jumped the shark"...The writing has steadily declined. The Zarf storyline is almost as bad and unwatchable as the Daniel Colson gay serial killer on One Life To Live...If they want to have a groundbreaking storyline - go for it. However, as with OLTL - which is also pretty bad, have a normal law abiding GBLT person fall in love, run a corporation or simply be a role model for his/her children...another character in the face of serial killing defeats the purpose of introducing such a character to the soap. There is no reason why a GBLT character can't be written into a soap with the same normalcy as any other character. Just gets annoying after awhile...With Passions now cancelled, we may say the death of a few more soaps within the next few years. Kudos for Guiding Light surviving for the last several years....ABC soaps were once sooooo HOT!!

I think wilehart1978 said it best, at least in regards to this GLBT storyline. I was insulted the moment it began (could read the writing on the wall). Of all the men out there that do have sex-changes to become women ... how many of them then prefer to be with women? And select one that is a LESBIAN??!!

It's an insult to the amazing Eden Riegel who came back to her Emmy-winning role of lesbian Bianca. It's almost as if all the amazing progress that little powerhouse actress has accomplised over the past six & a half years, has all gone downhill with this silly nonsense.

KennyD: You're right. Dixie isn't employed by Fusion. I'm thinking this killer will try to murder Babe and Dixie will step in and receive her invitation to Grim Reaperland instead.

BUT ... and this is only speculation: 37-year-old Cady McClain, although a two-time Emmy winning actress, is known for being a tad difficult to work with. And she's coupled with Hunt Block (ex-"Knots Landing," ex-"Guiding Light," ex-"All My Children"). She met him while he was Craig Montgomery to her Roseanna Cabot on "As The World Turns" a few years ago.

He, too, has been rumoured to be a tad difficult to work with. She might have demanded something that ABC wouldn't agree to and they decided to let her go. What would be sad is if she expressed her opinions regardinng just how horrible "AMC" has become and that she wanted better scripts, storylines, etc. and they canned her for that. :mad:

Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater) expressed his opinions on the morale and bad writing in a letter to Soap Opera Weekly this past spring. Although his storyline hasn't dwindled, there is stall talk that he won't re-sign his contract when it expires in a few months. Possibly return to "One Life To Live" as Patrick.

I just read somewhere(maybe even on JUB somewhere) that either AMC or OLTL may get cancelled when Good morning america goes to 3 hours. It's a shame but the writing on both shows is bad. The whole Tess/Jessica thing was so stupid. Nash is such a lifeless charactor.Sombody please kill natalie! Blair has lost so many children that the Amber alert system has no time for anyone else.Now Vicki/Dorian/Clint? Another story with actors with one foot in the grave.Oh and the best-Ryan Lavery is that little girls father from the sperm bank. Oh boy. But usually when I watch the show it reminds me of my family who long since died. Like I wrote above my grandma watch the show while she was in her death bed. It was odd cause the story line when she died was about Jenny's ghost coming back from heaven. I guess the story lines have always been bad-LOL.
 
I'm gonna have to disagree with you Bluedragon04. I'm extremely happy with the state of "One Life To Live" these days.

And the show having the guts to focus a love triangle (Vicki/Clint/Dorian) that isn't about 17-year-olds, is utterly fantastic!!! So I'm not gonna do any raining on that parade.

Todd & Blair's problems are becoming a tad predictable, though. I think the current Todd/Blair/Marty story would be so much better if the original Todd, Roger Howarth and original Marty, Susan Haskell, were around to play the roles.

Speaking of "roles," it just hit the internet that former Janet From Another Planet on "All My Children," Robin Mattson will be joing CBS soap "As The World Turns" in a few weeks.

Although she's been gone from Pine Valley for almost seven years (time has flown!), Mattson had short term gigs on "The Bold & The Beautiful" as Sugar in 2002 and in 2004 she was on "General Hospital" as Heather Webber, a part that should have been extended. Here's the full details:

AHHHH ; I sure hope they don't cancel AMC !!! I've watched this show from it's inception and to have it cancelled would like losing family .... I cry when regs get killed etc ...
Bad writting is better than NO writting for AMC ... in my opinion ...
I read that one letter from a fan is equal to 10,000 not written. So; IF all the fans here began writting to AMC and ABC and gave opinions about the show , maybe they would fire Megan McTavish and get a better writting staff ..
 
I watched it daily from almost the beginning (with such great moments as eliminating Jeff Martin's brother by having him upstairs and never come down and be seen again) andthe great Jenny and Greg and hung with it through Josh Deschanel (spelling) who was hot when he was kidnapped in leather - and Leo and Greenlee tried to get it together it was so great - but when he left I lost interest and it sounds like it has gone to total hell. Used to be a damn fine soap.
 
For those who watch OLTL and AMC. What do you think was the best story line and the worst story line? one word-Eternia#-o Bianca coming out:D . I really loved when Jenny died(the story that is not her death) and Nicki Smith and all her crazy outfits and sayings! That's what I can think of off the top of my head. I also remember a story I liked about 20 years ago when a bunch of the cast were kidnapped but were kept behind a 2 way mirror. The story line went all summer and Bo's girlfriend was some cute blond. I think she was Megan's sister?
 
the love story of Greg and Jenny was the best story line on AMC
