Can someone explain Squid to me?

I know once shit is translated into English lots of meaning and conception are lost, but still, I can't find a single character or storyline I'm interested in. Is it a slow build kinda thing, like Walkign Dead starts of trash but gets better?

I watched some previews to see what was the big deal, but it did not really make sense. I almost expected them to break out singing Baby Shark. Maybe I should watch an episode, but it seems so ridiculous, I bring myself to do it. I predict a short-lived juvenile fad.

I believe your response had nothing to do with race. If I were you I wouldn't bet my life savings on his intentions though, I'm not the only member to take him to task for his remarks about black people, and this isn't the first time he's insulted my intelligence. Its not the 5th time.

Thought so. Americans love it but the Korean reviews say so much is lost in translation so as to almost make it an entirely different show. Thats definitely the vibe I got, like it just won't make any sense because of the language disparity and much of the storytelling is ruined.

My sister in law absolutely gushes over it, as do so many people I've randomly encountered who can't seem to shut up about it. I don't have Netflix, so I don't have any plans on ever seeing it, but honestly, I'd probably be super disappointed after how much hype it's gotten based on what the few people in this thread have had to say about it.

I blame Billie Eilish. After enjoying ocean eyes I said to myself "ok maybe just cuz something is popular doesn't mean its bad." Shes the exception that proves the rule. If its popular, its bad.

Yes, which was a rip off of Battle Royale. That's what sells. The same thing, repackaged and simplified.

I wanna say yes, but I've never seen hunger games. From the modicum I know about it, and the half episode of squid i watched, seems plausible.

I’d tell you to watch Hunger Games but if you have time read the books instead. Much better.
