Death by natural causes is often added to death records as the cause of a person's death. Death from natural causes might be a heart attack, stroke, cancer, infection, or any other illness.

By contrast, death caused by active intervention is known as unnatural death. The "unnatural" causes are usually given as accident (implying no unreasonable voluntary risk), misadventure (accident following a willful and dangerous risk, which can include drug or alcohol overdose), suicide, or homicide.[1] In some settings, other categories may be added. For example, a prison may track the deaths of inmates caused by acute intoxication separately.[2] Additionally, a cause of death can be recorded as "undetermined".[3]

When i worked on the floor as a Nurses Aide at the hospital. i seen patients perfectly normal and then they end up coding and dying.
 
I would think that a person might be awake and some type of traumatic event such as a heart attack or stroke might put them into an unconscious state before death. So with the onset they are awake.
 
Sure it could be any number of things MI, aneurism, stroke, infection, cancer, anaphylaxis, you most certainly can die from these natural causes while awake!

Betty did not die of natural causes. Reports from online are coming in that she was struck by the pocketbook of a transgender woman in the ladies room of a restaurant, lost her balance, and was ground up by a wind turbine due to serious complications from her Covid booster.

Nothing is more natural than a Myocadial infarct or Cerebral embolism at an advanced age.
