Cause of erectile dysfunction in straight guys?

So I'm at a party and there's this guy I know from years and years before, he seemed to have only a few girlfriends in his life. He really takes after rap and that whole area of reality.

So anyway, he was off with his girlfriend and I'm sitting with their close friends, then they start talking about this guy not being able to... and then she stopped, said "do I have to spell it out?" and the other girl said "no, not when so many other ears are around." An obvious reference to me. His best bud was there and he said he knew him for a long time.

So obviously those questions were going through my head. The part I felt worse is if he were gay, his disposition and his family let alone all his "street cred" would be ruined.

But that is not my question. If he had erectile dysfunction, what are the main causes?

lots & lots of different reasons - it might be psychological, he could be on an RX that's causing the problem, could have a benign growth on his pituitary

entire medical practices are built around this subject - his best bet is to see the MD for a review & diagnosis - I have a friend of a friend who started to get serious wood problems, then suddenly he's starting to have ringing in his ears - the MD did a scan of his brain & there's a small tumor on his pituitary - the growth is removed, turns out to be benign & suddenly the guy is a raging sex machine because the growth was probably there like 10 years, affecting his desire even before he had wood problems - now he cannot fuck enough

Straight guys have erectile dysfunction because of being henpecked by their female partners. The guys become to feel emasculated. This doesn't happen to gay guys I know.

Those women were bitches. First of all, it's mean to talk about a man that way. But, secondly, if they're going to bring it up at all, then don't do the coy "so many ears around" nonsense, which just adds rudeness to the bitchiness, especially since it was obvious anyway.

You don't say how old the guy is, nor did the mean girl explain how bad the problem is. It's one thing to have occasional erection problems caused by too much alcohol, too many drugs, heavy stress and anxiety, depression, and a host of other things. It's another to be impotent most or all of the time. The former happens to men of all ages at one time or another. The latter is a sign of a serious problem - mental or physical - in a young guy.

Also, I don't quite get your last paragraph. Why would this be less devastating for a young, single straight guy than for a gay guy? Why would his "family" be ruined? It's not like he invested the family fortune with Bernard Madoff; he just can't get it up. It's a serious, disturbing problem but not the end of the world for somebody who's reasonably well adjusted.

P.S. The causes of ED in straight men are the same as the causes in gay men. It has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

I mean devastated that their son is gay. He can't get it up with a girl because he's gay. That's what I meant.

And oh God don't get me started on this one girl, she was the "so many ears" one AFTER bringing it up and then gives ME the snobby bitch treatment the rest of the night... like I wanted her.. geez Louise.
