On the Prowl
Wow. I didn't think it could happen.
Besides we were in a great position to win this year's ranking (in Madrid), the draw for the last competition was terrible for us.
There was only 1 pair that could beat us, and we had to face them in quarter finals. I had never beating one of the guys there, neither in singles, doubles or mixed doubles, and his partner had just beaten me in the last 3 matches we had.
The match began great. We just leaded 10-0.
After managing to do a terrible performance, the other pair leveled the game, until we won 15-13.
The second game was terrible. We just lost 15-7, playing quite badly the end of the game.
Everything was to be decided in the third and final set.
The whole season in just 1 game.
We didn't begin good. We missed really easy shots, or did very bad decisions during the game.
So we found ourselves 9-14 down.
Luck wasn't with us anymore.
But, something happened.
We managed to equal 14-14 after 5 match points for the other pair. From that till the end, it was all heart that we put in the game.
We won 17-14!!!!!!!!!
It was great. We just couldn't believe it.
We had 2 more matches to win the championship, but they were kind of easy. We didn't loose any game in those matches.
So, now it's official. They gay badminton player (ME)with his straight doubles pair (My great partner Fran), are this year's champions in Madrid.
Funny that I was the eldest player on court (30), beating guys from 18 till 21.......
So, sometimes things go your way........
Never loose hope, even though you're loosing 9-14....
