Here in the UK John Lewis (a huge family store) has dropped its Christmas ad. By common consent the John Lewis ad is usually the front runner for favourite Christmas ad.
But this year I have to say it is awful. It isn't very festive, has no 'tear jerker' content and makes little sense

There doesn't seem to be anything in it that the viewer can relate to. The special effects are bizarre, like the pictures shooting up out of the floor onto the wall, rain falling in the bedroom and the disintegrating house. I haven't seen the Boots one yet but I hear there's been fuss about "reverse racism" or some such. I still miss Woolworth's and C&A!

Seems to me, that Narnia/'through the back of the closet' business was played out years ago.

Dull, very dull.

I agree
And there is nothing mechanisable in the advert

I could be wrong, :)

But, I think that's largely the point. She didn't need to do all that searching/shopping, she only needed to go to John Lewis.

The Boots orgy with women in sequin-encrusted gowns swinging from chandeliers etc. is funny when you remember that the average branch of Boots looks like this:

Jesus Christ.

Maybe we should leave him out of this.

I mean, aren't most of these big stores, AND Christmas, owned and operated by Jews?:)

Let us not muddy up the true meaning, the real $ignificance of the holiday.
