Hi,
I had a circ 1 week ago today to fix a tight foreskin.

Was just wondering if its normal to swell up quite at lot only on one side?

The left side looks like its healing well and there is no swelling there, but from the first night after the op the right side swelled up a lot, to the point where the glans is now pointing at an angle to the left.

I left the bandage on for a couple of days as advised, then been bathing and reapplying a new gauze every day, but the swelling on the right is still there and the incision on that side is a messy scab, looks like the swelling has re-opened the incision a couple of times.

I don't think its infected as there's no oozing, redness or burning, just swelling, but the disolvable stitches are due to go in the next few days so should this not have gone down by now?

Thanks

Best to check with your doctor. May not be a big deal but your doc should make that decision. If something does need touching up or redoing now is the time to do it.

Swelling peaks between 48-72 after surgery. After that you should see daily improvement in the swelling and the inflammation.

Since you're a week out, your surgeon needs to take a look and make sure that everything is healing properly. Give him a ring and make an appointment.

Thanks, pain has been gradually getting better every day and there's no bleeding any more, just the swelling that hasn't changed.

I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow and will mention it then.

Seen my GP (not the surgeon) on wednesday.
He said it looks one of the better adult circs he's seen. No sign of infection, he said the swelling pesrsists sometimes as it has nowhere to drain because the lymph channels are affected by the cut.
He gave me a course of antibiotics as a precaution.

The left side of the incision line looks to have healed well, the right is still swollen and has a scab line, however on thursday night part of the scab started bleeding, nothing much but enough to stick the gauze bandage to the wound, its doing this every night, probably from night erections. I have to soak the gauze off but invariably the scab comes off as well then bleeds again and rescabs only to bleed again the next night.

Not sure if this is normal at this stage. Hopefully it won't affect the final scar

You should place a small amount of petroleum jelly or antibiotic ointment on the incision line. You can do this before you put on the gauze. Wounds that are kept moist will heal quicker and are less likely to tear off the scab.
