Cloverfield......HOLY EFFIN A! [WARNING: SPOILERS INSIDE!!!]

Re: Cloverfield......HOLY EFFIN A! [WARNING: SPOIL

Just got back from seeing this film. I expected to hate every minute of it....although it's not too many minutes long....maybe 75 or 80 minutes, if that. It was very enjoyable. Full of laughs. I recommend that if you see it, try to enjoy the characters as they are introduced in the beginning. It's easy, because they are realistic characters. The shaky camera aspect of the film gets easier to handle as the movie continues; the worst of the moving camera is in the early part of the movie. It's one hell of a ride (er, movie) if you let it. I'd see it again. There has got to be a sequel......

Re: Cloverfield......HOLY EFFIN A! [WARNING: SPOIL

I saw the movie on Friday and it was good but nothing great. Another great example of hype (like the awful Blair Witch Project). It's certainly not in the same league as Alien or Jurassic Park.

REQUEST!!!

Can someone explain what everyone's saying about the Coney Island scene with Rob & Beth?? Something fell from the sky or something?? I wasn't paying close attention to that scene, obviously......

Re: Cloverfield......HOLY EFFIN A! [WARNING: SPOIL

I just saw it today. I hadn't seen any of the trailers or even heard much of the hype (although I did see a few seconds of monster and a magazine article about it which listed other monster movies so I wasn't comletely green before I saw it. However.
As a film I thought it pretty impressive. Good effects and performances. The use of the hand-held home video was interesting (although a few of the angles were too staged to be realistic given the situation) but I found myself thinking 'when will they stop this crappy video and start the actual movie?'

Going deeper, I saw the film as an allegory for the war on terror - America being randomly attacked by some strange, seemingly unstoppable hydra, spitting out its little cells to cause mayhem all over the place. No-one knows where it came from or what caused it or what its beef is (other than it is pissed at something and just wants to destroy). All the military might thrown at it only inflames it even more.

Or maybe its just a monster flick.

I'm going to have to go and see it agin to see what falls in the sea at the end though. (probably best wait for DVD so I can pause it tho)

I think some of you are reading too deep into this movie. It is VERY possible that they just wanted to make a monster movie, and that 9/11 didn't even cross their minds. I think from now on I'm going to equate every movie I see to 9/11. Because apparently alot of you do

Moments after the final Coney Island segment begins, before we actually see Rob and Beth, something moving at a pretty good speed falls into the Atlantic Ocean, on the right side of the screen.

There's a lot of speculation as to what it was, and many people believe it was the monster. If you have followed any of the viral marketing websites out there, however, you would probably conclude that it's actually part of a satellite. There are pieces of a whole back-story out there online--all of the major characters even have myspace pages.

Re: Cloverfield......HOLY EFFIN A! [WARNING: SPOIL

Ok so now that we have all seen it, who saw the DHARMA sybol at the beginning? Was it an easter egg, or LOST tie in? I think if JJ Abrams tie the two together, it would be unprecedented and I will be in such SOCK and AWE that I would have nothing left to live for, thus causing the end of my life. Possibly via unspeakable means.

Re: Cloverfield......HOLY EFFIN A!

How was actually watching the movie?

Did the hand-held camera view make you overly dizzy or was it not too bad or barely noticeable?

I was so pissed that the whole movie was filmed that way. The movie was actually good with unsatisfying ending.
I got real dizzy afterward. I saw couple poeple waked out of theater.
I'll pass on the DVD version.
