Damn this is sucking, and i got it out of the repair shop last month in January.
Ok here is the problem. My computer will tick four or five times, then fezzes up. Then i get some blue screen that tells me to remove a recently installed program, if the problem persist call what ever tech support.
The only recently installed programs i have is my frigen printer and my MP3 player media problem that i have recentyly installed..

After i restart the computer i get a message that says that it doesn't detect a disk-ket/disc and that i need to make sure everything is plugged in.
And you guessed it, i looked inside my comp and yep, everything is in all the way. Im scared now, im typing this really fast because i don't know when it will crap out again.

REPLAY with HELP ASAP!

it probably a hardware issue probably the fan since you hear it click

sounds like the good old click of death.. your hard drive is probably on its way to the grave.. however all is not bad becuase hard drives are very inexpensive these days... good luck

it's the hard drive my computer did that recently, I was lucky. I got a new one and hooked it up as a slve and saved all that was precious. good luck to you.

The infamous hard drive tick of death. It's dying, and it will only get worse. Backup your data. And then buy a new HD, or computer, if it's that old.

1. I would open the case and listen to exactly where the clicking/ticking is coming from. if you can tell right away it's coming from the hard drive, then the thing is about ready to fail. I would not try this more than once because every time you turn on the computer that is one step closer to hard drive failure if that is actually what is wrong.

2. go out and get a new hard drive and install it immediately. If you are lucky you'll be able to use the software that comes with the new drive to copy everything from your old drive to the new one before it fails completely.

i don't know how old your computer is or how large your current hard drive is, but you can get an 80 GB western digital hard drive at wal mart for about 50 bucks.

You cant trust computers as far as you can throw them. Ok, good news is i had an extra hardrive laying around, and i also still had this potable HD i bought from cosco a few months back. I was able to xfer all of my files from the supposed damage drive (D drive). I then install the other hardrive that was laying around, everything seemed to be going fine, then four hours later, you guessed it. The blue screen came up again, told me to check a whole bunch of crap or what ever.

So i deleted my printer application, and i cleared up about a gig of space of my E drive, im hoping this time it acts right.
Lord knows i don't want to give the geek squad 65 bucks for a diag test.
I dislike putting my computer in the hands of an office like company, you just know they are going to go through all of your personal files like, like my endless supply of porn lol.
Anyways, im gonna leave my comp on for a few hours and im hoping for the best :(

Dude, fuck Geek Squad. They're rapists. Go to a local shop, ask around if you don't know of one.... they're better for your local economy anyway...they need your business and chances are they will do a better job for a lot less of a diag fee.

As for what's going on, since you're mentioning clicking and then the stop error screen, it sounds like hard drive failure, but BSOD's can mean lots of things. It can be a messed up registry, device drivers that are bad or wrong, memory issues..it's a hard one to diagnose on a forum.

Backup what you can while you can and then get it to a real computer tech place and let them find out whats up.

Might also be a good idea to grab a cell phone or digicam capture of the blue screen message next time it comes up, if it does. The line code basically tells those who know about this stuff what is taking place and why.

Well what about this guys?

I propose that his old drive was in fact dying, since he was hearing clicking noises.
I then propose that the interruption and BSODs and restarts may have screwed up the windows install.
I then propose that the other drive he had laying around is probably fine, but since he transfered the data (i assume he did a drive copy) and the windows install that is still messed up maybe? what about trying a repair of the windows installation?

comrad, are you still hearing the clicking noise?

No no clicking noises, in fact i have been doing pretty fine. Other then firefox has been crashing on me every now and then and i have to do a computer restart. Other than that its been starting up fine. But what i find is weird is that firefox has been very stable before this has happen. ATM im happy that it hasn't crashed again, but i damn sure wont put money on it staying up very long.
