About 2hrs in length...It is Rated "R" because of the Tits & Ass scenes...The Blood-splatter is so-so..I give it 2 1/2 Stars..(Decent/Fair)
I saw this Flick with a Bud Friday night. It was alright but it lacked special effects BIG-time. The production value leans toward "Made for TV" but there were good Cinema moments. Ron Perlman plays Conan's Father and he Delivers an excellent "supporting" part like always. Ron must be on some kinda Quest to do more "Sci-Fi-Fantasy Flicks" than any other Actor.
The Studio decided to go with a script that introduces Conan as a Teen. The Kid is totally "Crazy"and true to everything a Barbarian-in-training is suppose to become. Kudos to young Conan who gives a "convincing" performance.. Of course Jason Momoa is the "Adult Conan" and he's alright but he's NO Fucking Arnold. NOBODY can swing a Damn Sword like Arnold. Jason is so "Pretty" and his hair is so "Permed-up" you really gotta look past that to see "The Barbarian" the Director is trying to sell you on..
I'm sold on Jason's decent-acting skills. The scene where we get to see his "Ass" is a definite Bonus. He dedicated some time off the set getting those "squats" in and it shows. Jason gets my vote for BEST Rock-Solid-Booty seen in a Sci-Fi-Fantasy flick.. Now had I been the Casting Director I would have given the role to one of WWE's Wrestlers..Not "The Rock", but maybe the other Guy with the Dirty Blonde hair. He's done a couple of Flicks and I think he was "The Rocks" Nemesis back in the day..Somebody reading this knows who' I'm talking about. I would have taken a "chance" with that guy...
I'm gonna assume the Budget was SMALL cause all you get is two Freaking Special effect scenes....That's it....The scene with the "Sand Demons" is all they could afford(and I won't give the 2nd-effect Spoiler but let's just say OctaPussy). I wanted MORE Sorcery and Monsters. Had they NOT paid the Legendary Morgan Freeman an ASS-Amount-of-Money to Narrate the Shit they could have added more special effects...
They underused the "Evil King" and the Camera Loves the Guy.
"Conan the Barabrian" is worth the Admission price to a Daytime Matinee, not Full Price after 5pm. My Ultilmate RULING is wait for it to drop on DVD in 4 months.
