Hi Everyone,

Because of my interest in the construction trades I get weekly newsfeeds concerning shoddy construction projects around the USA.

I'm sharing this video because I fear total collapse of the apartment complex featured in this local news report.

Much ado over very little.

There is nothing structurally problematic based on the report. And the television station wasn't really forthcoming about the actual issue. Instead they focussed on the first world problems of inconveniance while the flooring will get replaced.

It is the topping under the vinyl plank flooring.

The building isn't going to fall down because the finish flooring is failing.

But yeah...everyone will sue.

I get a "red alert" when indications of poor construction arise, from soft flooring to sagging ceilings. I want to see the building inspector's report.

The news video doesn't really tell us what's wrong with the place. "Flooring problem" could mean a lot of things. I wanna know what made it sink.

Yes, now I see how devoid of details that news report is, and that's always the problem with television news.
Just like rareboy mentioned, the television report was more about the inconvenience to tenants than actual structural analysis.

If it was a structural problem, the tenants would have been relocated immediately and the building condemned for occupancy

One of the options was for tenants to relocate for 60 days.

A serious structrual issue affecting the floors would not be repaired in 60 days.
