I received several emails yesterday from our regional educational service center -one was from the math specialist and the other was from the director. Both were asking the same thing... Would I be willing to present a program at the state reading conference next Fall?
Now keep in mind, I teach MATH. Of course I told them yes, because I love sharing ideas with others. While I teach math, I also incorporate other areas into my classroom. When the students were reading The Diary of Anne Frank in English, I included a project helping students understand the vast number of Holocaust victims. Currently, my students are reading children's books that are math-related, and will eventually write their own children's book that is math-related. And each semester, I pick a book to read aloud every few days (when they've behaved well).
And in other news, I've just learned that everything checks out and I will be graduating this semester with my master's degree in educational administration, building level.
