I was so furious at my family and friends that said, "it was just a pinch." But now a week later, I am on top of the world ... my sister is right, "8 seconds of discomfort is worth 8 months free of pain!"

For those of you that don't know, I have lupus, and my doc wants me to have rotary cuff surgery.

For those of you that don't know, I have lupus, and my doc wants me to have rotary cuff surgery.
Rotary cuff surgery is a horrible surgery, very painful during recovery, I am told. An orthopedic surgeon recommended it to me about 10 years ago. I decided to try to live with the pain without surgery. It got worse. Then I got a bad case of the hives and the Doctor gave me a 10 day course of Prednisone costing $17. It is a tiny corticosteroid pill. more pills to start, then fewer and fewer. At the end, the hives came back but the shoulder pain was gone and has never come back. The same thing happened to the other shoulder and I asked for and
received the prednisone. Again the pain went away. It does not cure the tear, but takes the inflammation away. Ask the Dr for ten days. They prefer to give 7 days in a package with the right number of pills a day, but 7 days may not do the job.
I assume the same result can be obtained for other inflammations and tendinitis, if you Dr approves.

Update: 4 weeks exactly, and I'm still on top of the world. Went in for a check-up with my primary physician today, and he hinted that said shots possibly could ask indefinitely. I haven't even so much as taken any Ibuprofen 800s since my shots, and outside of that the first couple of days afterwards the same can be said for simple Tylenol.

I soaked my remaining Ambien in baggie with a tablespoon of bleach tonight ... lol, I hope I'm not jumping the gun. The only reason why I took those was when the ibuprofen wasn't working (and I refused narcotics), and the slightest move would wake me. :D I LOVE stretching in the morning after a great night's sleep!

Life is full of simple pleasures [again].

Is there a connection between rotary cuff and lupus?
I have rotary cuff issues, but miraculously, the pain is lessening with time (months).

Rheumatoid arthritis runs rampant in my family, and I just figured it was my turn. Lupus is a generative disease that affects everyone differently. Surprisely enough, I am NOT an Asian/African-American woman of child bearing years. I'm just an unfortunate man, and I'm okay with that. I lived through cancer twice, so this is just a walk in the park.

Rotary cuff tears are certainly not an indicator of lupus. A high percentage of older people have rotary cuff tears. But I don't know much about lupus. Aleve will help with our pain, and has a therapeutic effect on the inflammation itself.

I think it was cortisone that I had to finally take years ago after some allergic reaction wasn't subsiding. It was truly a miracle drug that worked like magic with in 24 hours.
