Ok i came here because im 18 and need support and guidance. Ok so since thursday my bodies been crashing hard and ive had chills/fever/cold and the thought in my mind is could i have hiv. It seems lately i get sick quite a bit but people at school are sick and i also help kids during the day which could do it too. Anyway ive been active with 3 boys and only did it once with each. 1st bf i only gave oral and that was it and i swallowed, 2nd bf he swallowed but got check up and he was clean, and 3rd was a fling but i think i had tiny drip of his cum hit my tongue. Anyway im stressing i might have it and i live in such a small town that idk if i can go without everyone in my town finding out im gay by word of tongue. Anyway please tell me if u think im worrying too much and what you think i should do, any advice is much appreciated

Go to your doctor and get tested. I dont think you would have contracted HIV with that limited experience (I think its much more difficult to get from oral) but its nothing to bull shit about. Get tested.

Its not easy to contract HIV orally unless you have open sores in your mouth (such as after brushing you tear your gums). To be blunt, if contracting HIV orally was easy, none of us would be around.

The only way to be certain of your status is to get tested. But I suspect in a couple days you will either feel better or realize you simply have the flu.

I think you're overreacting. People get sick all the time without having HIV. Almost everyone I know has had the symptoms you describe. It is February you know. I've been there so I understand how you feel. It is natural to jump to worst conclusion. The answer of course is to get tested. I know it is stressful and difficult but don't panic. From what you say it is highly unlikely to be HIV. Once you get the test results your mind will be much more at ease. Please let us know what happens.

One final word for next time - be safe!

Go to county health department and you can get anonymous HIV testing.

In school, we had a saying, "When you hear hoofbeats, look for horses, not zebras."

It's flu season. That's the most likely thing for you to have based upon your symptoms.

However, since you are sexually active and not in a monogamous relationship, you should have regular STD testing- for your own peace of mind.

There are many treatments available - HIV is no longer the horrible thing it was 25 years ago. If you have it, there is no reason not to get started on treatment, or at least plugged in with an infectious disease doctor.

It's really more like diabetes or high blood pressure - sure, it's a nuisance, you have to take medications, and in some people there may be issues decades down the road... but it's not a "death sentence".

Furthermore, the newest guidelines from the NIH recommend testing EVERYONE for HIV routinely in populations where the undiagnosed rate of HIV is higher than 1 in 1,000 people.

HIV is a death sentence while you can delay the outbreak for a long time, and live many healthy years even when you are positive, it's absolutely stupid to say that you should not get in touch with a doctor immediately.
that being said - you most likely don't have HIV - while the immune system suffers and in the end you get really sick really often - this does not start immediately, but usually after (in the worst and untreated case of an infections) a few years. often, a few weeks after infection people to have a "strong cold" "light flu" kind of symptons, but the overall immune system is not affected at that point.
i don't think that you got infected, but as said before - you will only ease your mind if you get tested.

^ Agreed.

And get tested not only for HIV, but for the full spectrum of STDs. Some of them are largely asymptomatic, but you can spread them around.

blayne90 sweetie

Please go get tested and as trenir said "not only for HIV, but for the full spectrum of STDs"..........find a clinic today and go there..........just walk in and say I want to be tested and they will help you..........please do not be shy about it..........

..........and please be safe & please "no more" risky behavior"..........okay (*8*) ..........Yuki
