well, it's usually about bars that cost thousands of dollars to operate with Lights, Sound systems, security and staff and then the crowd comes in high on E and GHB and drinks one bottle of water all night.

I saw some of that last night, but I also saw the back counter lined with guys tabs each time I went for a drink, so I don't think they are in the majority. I used to work in bars myself, so I can appreciate the hard work and costs involved with the staff. I guess I was caught off guard last night and felt disturbed about the increasing costs of going out and having fun.

I rarely pay one here in SoCal. You have to get to know the owners and/or befriend the bouncers.

I've only paid a coverage charge a few times, and I don't think it was ever more than $10.00.
The popular places, where people go to be seen....long lines, etc, are not for me.
I so rarely go into a bar or club of any kind, unless I'm with someone who wants to take in the whole atmosphere. I only drink beer anyway, and I can buy a sixpack for practically as much as a beer/with a tip! I can relax at home and have a few...not worry about driving.

Covers PISS ME OFF! But I understand that it is another form of revenue for the club. I can understand making those under 21 pay a cover, but over 21, come on. If Im drinking I usually spend $40-60 on drinks so the club at least doesnt lose money on me.
