I know it is not necessary, but it would be nice to have a perfect score: 850

So close yet so far. Before, my credit said the length of credit was only very good and the rest exceptional. But this year it just hit exceptional. But I paid my car off last year and my variety of credit dropped to very good. Only one damn point off. I don't want to get another car loan/lease to get it back up. Maybe if I got a store credit card, it would push it up a point.

Mine drops 25 points if I show any balance on my credit card when they check. Then it jumps back up when it shows no balance.

I have absolutely no idea about my credit score. I'm solvent, have a reasonably well paid job and pay my bills on time, so I'm guessing I'm a decent risk.

That's the trouble with credit scores, you have to demonstrate your ability and willingness to make payments.

And,, 'demonstrate' means go into debt and make timely payments. I have when I thought it would be a good idea to have a history, but I'd rather not.

Not necessarily. They calculate based on your borrowing and repaying. Ridiculously you have to get credit to get a score

Oh, okay. Well, I have a credit card which I use for most of my daily expenditure and which I pay off in full every month. Maybe that would count for something.

I had a perfect score back in my 20's. It was nice. It allowed me to save my mother's house and do things I liked to do.
