It seems to me from having read various topics on this forum that the use of an enema is generally not recommended because it can introduce more problems than it solves. However, I was wondering if the same also applies to this type of enema:

The way I understand it, I suppose you insert some sort of liquid from the bottle into your anus? http://www.fleetnaturals.com/pdf/Naturals-How-To-Use.pdf

This still sounds to me like it could be potentially irritating but does anyone have any concrete information about whether the usage of these is more or less advised than that of a traditional enema?

I bought a special rubber bottle thing so i can squirt water into the anus.
It won't work. I go back to the basic wash, swat down in the shower and poke/wash the hole until nothing comes out is the best way. If you have a flexible shower head would help alot.

That type would not be as problematic as it does not have laxative chemicals.

Daily use enemas are a bad idea for several reasons. The colon is very good at maintaining a water balance. By introducing water into the colon you throw that balance off. An enema should be used rarely and sparingly.

A shower nozzle is fine as long as you are using it just on the exterior portion of the anus. You should never use a shower nozzle for an enema. Commercial enemas introduce a limited amount of water into the rectum. A shower nozzle introduces an unknown quantity of water under high pressure into the colon. A pre-anal sex enema is not necessary but for those who want to use them, the enema should only wash the anus and the lower portion of the rectum. Water introduced into the higher portions of the colon will either be absorbed or it will leak out later- often at the most embarassing time.

I've used that Fleet twice (for medical reasons) and I found it quite painful inserting the nozzle. It felt sharp, is the best way to describe it and I couldn't manage to get it all in or the fluid. I would never do an enema again unless per another doctor's order. Very unpleasant.

KaraBulut has your answer.

The chemical aspect is a minor part of the problem. Even the most optimal liquid can throw things off balance. If you feel a need to do a "deep clean" (with the large bag type, not the shower attachment), I think it's recommended to do it a couple of hours before sex so all that water leaves or gets absorbed and the colon stabilizes.

As for the plastic nozzles, in addition to using lube, you've got to aim it correctly - more parallel to your back. I know that sounds obvious, but it's very easy to poke yourself in the wrong place while doing something that's already awkward and making you tight.

I think I have tried most of the enema applications. I started out using the regular Fleet enemas, but I don't like the slime they create.

I have use the water-bottle enema bag, but it takes a long time because the bag must be thoroughly washed and rinsed before using to ensure mold is not being introduced up inside me.

Now, I am re-using some old Fleet enema bottles with just plain water. They seem to be working fine. I hope to purchase an enema bulb one day.

Get the enema bulb asap. One quick douche takes less than 30 seconds and I'm' ready for hours of play. And it's small you you can take it anywhere (i.e. gym bag). Probably the best five bucks I ever spent.
