James Bond star Daniel Craig has turned down the chance to portray Marvel superhero Thor on the big screen.

The actor was one of the movie producers' favourites to play the blond-haired, hammer-wielding Norse warrior, in director Kenneth Branagh's film adaptation of the comic.

But Craig snubbed the offer, claiming it would be "too much of a power-trip" to play both 007 and Thor.

Thor is due for release in 2010.

Thor has been a Marvel hero for over 40 years---If they have not found someone to star how can they have a release date as yet?

I can't believe they're actually making a Thor movie. I can't think of a more laughably stupid looking hero than Thor.

^ oh i disagree! thor could be a wonderful vehicle if done right.

that's the thing with comic book inspired movies. if its done right (the dark knight, iron man, x2, etc.) then it will do well at the box office and even garner some great reviews. but if it isn't? wow!

the saving grace here is that its kenneth branagh who is making this movie. the man has chops and has made some really good movies. i for one am curious to see what he does with this one.

Took the words right outta my mouth! I just hope they find someone good to play the part! if they go with Triple H, like some of the fans want, that would be a disaster! Daniel Craig would've been good though, hadn't thought of him.

^ yeah, triple h? that would be a disaster. i liked craig because the guy has chops. hopefully they'll find someone to fill the bill.
