It has been recommended that I read the books of David Sedaris since I so enjoyed Augusten Burroughs' Running With Scissors. Where do I start? Why so many hated the Scissors movie, I don't understand....

I've read all of Sedaris's books.

I started with Naked and its still my favorite so I'd say start there.

people may have hated the movie .. i liked it, but still the book was awesome !

Start with any of them, really. But because I'm anal about this stuff, I'd read his first collection followed by each based on the date of release/publication.

I haven't read any Sedaris but I do really love most of Burrough's books.

Naked is one of my favorites. I was able to get to hear him read excerpts of it years ago.

I say start with MeTalk Pretty One Day or for a short read try Holidays On Ice.

All of the books are great, but they're even better as audio disks. His voice adds a real edge to the humour. His Christmas piece "Six to Eight Black Men" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

I woke up at 3am on Christmas Morning and couldn't go back to sleep so I cracked open my copy of Holidays on Ice and read it all. It was great.

Ah yes! I always look forward to hearing the story of Krumpet the Elf, on NPR, every Christmas.
