Degrassi Season 8

Anyone watch it? This season isn't that great and the show has lost it's shock value. They don't really take on any big issues anymore. Although it's more realistic, it's less interesting. All the new characters are pretty much clones of old characters and they also seem to be reusing storylines.

The premiere episode was pretty much a copycat of the "U Got the Look" episode. Mia(Manny) gets a new look and becomes more slutty. Her best friend Lea(Emma) tries to stop her from being too slutty. The nerdy dork JT(Danny) tries to date her but she goes for the hotter guy instead. It ends with Lea/Danny(Emma/JT) not being friends with her anymore. Walking away and giving her nasty looks.

Next week is the gay episode between Peter/Riley so hopefully that'll be good.

This season isn't that great and the show has lost it's shock value.

It's never been good at all. The only thing shocking about it is that it seems the prerequisite to be in it is that you utterly failed all your acting classes. At least a few of the pple are pretty easy to look at.

I have been a fan for a long time. Sad to see this cast get phased out. hopefully the stories get better. I would love to see peter come out lol

I was waiting for the episode when Spinner and Marco fell in love...but it never happened! WEHHHHHH!!!! lol

I love it cuz the acting is so dreadful, it's like a drama/unintentional comedy. Plus this NEVER ceases to entertain me.....

I really don't think that the acting is that bad. The actors who play Spinner and Darcy have done really well in their episodes.

And that's how Canadians talk, so I don't find it that entertaining or whatever.

Yeah, I think he's the hottest on the show hands-down. It'd be sweet to find out he's yearning for a little guy-on-guy action, but who knows if this is just an elaborate tease. We'll have to see. Meanwhile check out this Peter-centric ad spot:

What made them change the Danny/Derek team from JT/Toby lame squad copiers to captain of the football team/part time jerk?

And I saw a preview for the next episode "someone has a secret" aka one of the new guys is gay

And another with Liberty/Manny, I mean JT/Toby, I mean Claire/Alli caught with a penis pump...I mean dildo

...I'm just bitter Jimmy's not around anymore...will we ever find out if his stem cell surgery will work? Or if Paige has HIV...and we still don't know who raped Darcy...

One few shows that does real good job of dealing with teens and the issues of teens. They are not afraid to deal with like Marco and his boyfriend.

If you catch BBC America on Sunday nights they have teen show called Skins also deals with teens and issues of gay.

I've hated Danny/Derek ever since they got on the show. I thought it was so stupid and unrealistic that for I think 2 or 3 seasons, they introduced them as nerds and now they're trying to make them all cool and stars of the schools football team even though the school didn't even have one. Yes, the dildo thing is another recycled plot.

I'm fine with not knowing who raped Darcy because the point of it is that they'll never know and it was a random thing from a random person. I liked Paige's rape story better although Darcy's was ok. Jimmy's storyline I'm also fine with it ending that way. Stem Cells surgery hasn't been tested enough but they wanted to give the character and other wheel chair people hope. A fan who wants him to walk again can just say that he got it done while people who think it's too unrealistic will leave it at that.

Paige's HIV thing really could've continued though. Aids is one of the biggest issues they could tackle. They haven't done it in the past on the show and they wasted the story line by not continueing it. I've always thought they should've given AIDS to a character as useless as Hazel. It's realistic because it could happen to anyone. Other than one episode, she had no character developement and didn't have to go through anything. It would've given the actress a chance to shine instead of being remembered for a character that was nonexistent.

I hated that they never gave Marco a new boyfriend other than that ugly Dylan. All they did was break up, get back together, break up and get back together and their relationship was always long distance. I would've liked to see him continue with Tim. They could've had Marco come back to Degrassi to visit him like Spinner does with Jane. They also could've developed Tim as a new character and he could've still been on the show today. It's like how Peter came in season 5 and had time to develop. He's unlike any other character on the show and never had to become a replacement clone. Marco was whiny and annoying anyways.

I also never liked JT, Ellie, Jane, Craig.

I know but that guy was just as bad as Dylan. Their relationship wasn't really developed and it came in too late. Just like his relationship with Dylan, it was BORING! 4 gay guys and I only liked Tim. Tim's coming out was also a lot more interesting than Marco's. Tim's dad wanted to kick him out while Marco's dad just ignored that fact that his son told him he's gay.

I know the quality of the show went down but it's nice to see new storylines on TV focusing on gay issues. All the other shows I watch either just have a gay minor character or gayness used as a joke. I'm also liking this storyline a lot more than a lot of Marco's storylines. The storyline will continue later in the season after this episode because a preview they showed before the season started had some things about Riley/Peter that weren't in this episode.
