Deidre Hall (Marlena) FIRED from "Days!"

OMG, how dare they fire Marlena next to Alice Horton she is the matriarch of the show. I've been watching Days Of Our Lives since I was a boy and she was being stalked by the Salem Strangler (Jake Kositchek). It will be a sad day when it's her last day on the show. Marlena will be missed.

Wow...I can't believe they fired her. I can barely stand to watch the show and now they are firing one of the ONLY reasons I still do.

I would imagine there will be SERIOUS backlash from the fan community for this. The show is in danger as it is if I remember correctly and they aren't helping things.

That's awful. She's the biggest star of the show! I used to be such a huge, faithful fan to this show but it has gone severely downhill in the past few years. Deidre Hall was always one of my favorites and and looks as though this is the beginning to the end of this long-lasting serial. Sacrificing your stars for the sake of talentless, cheap teens is beyond stupid! Days of Our Lives used to be such a fun guilty pleasure!

You know the economy is in the shitter when you fire, Deidre Hall!

They totally fucked up their great storyline back in 04, I think, when they made her a serial killer. They totally fucked it up, and lied how it wasn't going to turn into some dream.

I've had issues with the show since they let Eileen Davidson go, and when she was out of a job from the Bold and the Beautiful, and they had the chance to scoop her up, they didn't do it. They even began a storyline using her character, returning a character to the show that was Susan's now grown son. They showed her character in a photo. Everyone thought she'd be coming back. Even the cast were talking about it. It didn't happen. Now, Eileen is on, god, what's the other show? She's not even getting a big storyline there apparently. She's playing the same character she played on Bold.

The people who are likely to even tune into these shows are college aged. Don't they realize that they don't want to see some "teen" soap opera. They like the classic characters. Deidre was beyond one of them.

Firing Deidre is just so extreme, that it probably will leave the biggest lasting impression in soap history. Never saw it coming.

I read today that whats-his-name who is in charge at Days said that NO ONE is above re-casting. I shudder to think of who could be re-cast...Bo, Hope, Marlena even...can't imagine anyone else playing her.

However, there was hope that they would return since they are leaving with a happy ending. Probably he will go crawling back and begging them when ratings take another dip.

They want to save the show, get rid of these new actors who didn't even exist until they popped up and suddenly had ties to the families. Melanie, for instance. Why couldn't she just fall off that stupid balcony and die, thus eliminating a character that is more of a drain on the show than help. I was sitting there just hoping she would get dropped and splat on the concrete...evil, maybe, but I'm tired of these storylines of teen drama. That's not what I watch for. If I wanted that, I'd watch Gossip Girl or something.

Me too! She's one of the main reasons I started watching and became so hooked. John and Marlena haven't had a decent story since the day Kristen went buh-bye. It's been almost ten years now!

Make that three of us! I haven't "truly" watched or followed a storyline of Days since Kristen left, she was so awesome back then...I'm assuming she's still in that harem Susan left her in? Poor Kristen, lol

But I thought Days fired John/Drake like a year or so ago, he "died" and then he came back as Robo-John. Or was that just rumors?
