If you could have a dinner party, with three guests from the past, who would you choose and why?

I'd invite:

God, 'cos THAT would be interesting
My mother's mother, 'cos I never met her
Mike (Inwood), 'cos he's my best friend and we rarely get to spend time together, so it'd be good to share it with him

And anyway, isn't this a bit of a dumb question, since the invited people would CLEARLY have to be from the past. Who would invite someone they hadn't met yet?

And just for clarification, I'm using the word "past" in the most pedantic way possible.

Jean Racine, Catullus and Du Fu: they could so help me with valuable information for certain texts...

I prefer to dine with the living - the dead are an awful bore, they don't appreciate the cuisine, and ultimately make a horrific mess of the place.

I'd invite...

Jesus...I have a few things to ask him about and discuss

Alexander the Great...he was a sexy gay Macedonian (and I've had a wee bit of experience with sexy gay Macedonians, hehehe!)

and Frank Sinatra...he would just be one heck of a great guest!
