Alright so maybe we can't answer this question but do the gay men here like these 4 singers?

Cher - I've only heard 5 of her songs (I've Got you Babe, Turn back Time, Believe, Strong Enough and Song for the Lonely), I'm too young too know some of her older stuff, but from what I heard I do like these songs. Also, VH1 once stated that her core fan base is gay men.

Madonna - I love her music, she also seemed to have a lot of gay friends back in her day

Pink - Her official website has a forum and the majority of people who post there are lesbians, bisexuals or gay men. Anyway, I also love her music

Mariah Carey - recently I've been seeing a lot of gay men into her music; anyway I also love her music.

So, what about you guys? Also, what is it about these artists that seem to attract us to them?

I actually like every one of those except Mariah Scarey... I personally think she's a talentless hack.

Please don't take away my gay card, but....who the hell is Pink???
Of the other three, I can only say that I like Cher, but am not fanatical about her.

I suppose that there are the odd songs by the first three that I can get into. Not sure about Pink, I think I only know one or two.

I think Mariah Carey is a floppy-twat whore, I think her songs are shiity and her voice is annoying. But I'm sure there are gay guys who like her.

But no.. I prefer Led Zeppelin over all of the aforementioned musicians.

yes to Cher, and no to the rest of them.

I really like Mariah Carey and Cher. Pink is pretty good. Madonna I can give or take. Judging by the responses on this board, I'd say the anser to your question is "no".

I'm a very big fan of Cher, Madonna I only really like her early stuff from the 80s, Pink I've just recently started liking and she's becoming a fave. Mariah Carey on the other hand, I really, really dislike.

As for what attracts gay men to become fans of these singers and similar singers, I can only speculate, but in my opinion it is the image and the sassy "I do what I like and to hell with anyone who doesn't like it" attitude. That's certainly one of the factors that make me a fan of Cher!!!

I absolutely love Pink and I listen to a select few of Madonna's songs, but I don't listen to Mariah or Cher. I actually went to see Pink live just under a year ago, it was great! ..|

Speaking of Pink ;) Last year, NBC Sunday Night NFL football was hoping she would be their Hank Jr, WRONG!

Cher - some early stuff (talking 60's and 70's here).
Madonna - don't like her music, but respect her.
Pink - liking her latest stuff more than the early silliness.
Mariah Carey - no thanks. It's a relief not to hear her squawking on the radio these days.

Guilty as charged to all of them :-$ (except early Pink)

Throw in some Janet, Whitney and Paula and I´m ready to go --%--

cher no
madonna yes
pink hell yeah
mariah you bet!

I think the big appeal is someone being successful despite the odds. Of course a couple on the list get diva points as well. its not a litmus test though! I for one HATE Barbara Streisand and think her voice sounds like a dying cat! My partner on the other hand... adores her. I listen to almost any kind of music... but I agree that these ladies tend to be "iconic" in the queer community. And thats only the tip of the list...

Of the four, I like only Cher.
And not so much her singing as her acting ability. The 1987 movie, "Moonstruck" moonstruck me, and I have loved her since.
I enjoyed some of her songs with Sonny Bono.

When she gets good roles, she can act with great skill.
