Do bisexual guys prefer to identify as straight?

Well, people from both the straight and gay communities tend to be very judgemental of bisexual men, so I wouldn't be surprised they would choose to go with the more socially-acceptable level.

Also most women have negative opinions of bisexual men (I have no idea why, since I love 'em) because they view them as bigger sluts than straight men, which is completely stupid because bi men can be perfectly faithful, while straight men can be cheating dogs. Other men view bisexual men negatively as well because they focus more on their "gay" aspect.

to elaborate on the woman's perspective i could use my older sister as an example.

she talks like she's all open minded n shit, but she really doesn't respect "bisexual" men because like a lot of other women she see's him as less of a man.

if i may digress a bit, my sister is actually homophobic. like literally

not just in the vauge context that people typically throw that word around with, but she is actually AFRAID, like real fear of the idea of my niece being attracted to women.

she actually said, if my niece "came out" to her or whatever, she would try to talk her into liking men instead.

I personaly identify as being Bi. For the simple reason that i enjoy having sex with M's and F's. If I only liked Men then I bee Gay. If I only liked Women then I bee str8. Any men that likes both men and women is bi.. You can't say you are str8 when you like sex with men. be true to your self if you like sex with men you are either bi or gay. So cum out and live it up.

Good for you. I never understood why people can't own up to the bisexual or "bi" label. Nothing wrong with that, you lucky bi guy. I'm "mostly gay"!!

I say ideally, bi guys should date other bi guys (or females) and gay men should be with gay men.

Why? It makes sense if you feel threatened and just want to "lock down" your man, but other than that I can't think of a reason for you to justify such a claim. Honestly, I find it a little offensive.

Bulge makes a good point: statistically, according to the most credible surveys, most bisexual guys consider themselves straight. In fact, of U.S. men who have had intercourse (oral or anal) with men, half identify as straight, a quarter as bisexual, and a quarter as gay. I have a post on this subject on my blog. The problem is that the word bisexual has a lot of bad press and is misunderstood. Even fairly open-minded individuals who have nothing against gays or lesbians and who have been attracted to or experimented with the same sex still don't feel that the bisexual label applies to them. After researching this for years, I've proposed a dozen different categories that I think are more useful than the traditional gay-straight-bi.
