Some do and some don't.

Sometimes the most charming people, the easiest to be with don't care about others. And sometimes those who take more of an effort are the ones who care most about others.

Be selective in choosing your friends!

Mainly made this thread because people were suggesting that religious people should 'keep it in their own home' and 'in the closet'. and I am sure plenty of us didn't like that type of feeling, but it's something 'we' suggest because we don't agree with it? That's a horrible thing to do to anybody, in my honest opinion.

I agree, that's very ungenerous.

The only thing is, if someone brings his religion into a conversation he has to be prepared to hear opposition to it. Politics and religion -- great subjects of discussion but inherently polarizing.

for those reasons alone, anyone who is weak enough to fall into the open arms of a religion but also evangelize others of a philosophy that is often self-derogatory (thus stemming and solidifying some inferiority complex) should be slapped around with a big trout.

I can understand a difference of opinion on religion, and I respect it like I would any one elses belief, but the thought of completely opressing religion, which means you'd be opressing people is a little to extreme to me. We're all humans, with emotions. It's tough enough in the world, no need to try and make it even tougher.

Again I agree.

But remember that the religions that upset people, that some people want to oppress, are themselves oppressive. You don't see anybody except tyrants trying to oppress Buddhists or Quakers.

So it's not surprising that religions that seek to oppress people would meet resistance and inflame emotion. Some religions, some people who are religious, make life much tougher on some people; I don't have any sympathy for them when they're called on it. How many gays are closeted, for instance, because of religious oppression?

Yes, in most cases..

I think that has been proved over and over again in these forums. When one has a problem or going thru a really rough time, I think the JUB community really get behind that person. I know I have been comforted many times.

I have care and concern for others. I even care about the people that bash me because of my religious beliefs. We shouldn't be at each others throats simply because we have different beliefs. You will always find people who are insensitive and seem to enjoy it. I am glad that the majority of people are caring and compassionate. Many people on JUB have been kind and helpful to me.
