in the pictures being carried, apart from Eleanor Roosevelt and Mabel Hampton?

The guy on the right looks familiar.

I guess that is why they were being celebrated in this parade in 1980...because their stories and voices had been lost.

You mean celebrating they will remain poetic unsolved misteries forever...

No they aren't.

You can go to the Herstory Museum in Brooklyn New York and likely find a full history for each of them.

They likely figure large in the writings and studies of many academics and historians.

Just because we aren't familiar with their faces doesn't equate with being unaware of their influence.

You mean, rare, like with viruses or with peristaltic motion.

Right... going down there through the stupid US customs and winnowing paranoia just for that.

If they are such prominent saints to be paraded so conspicuously, they could be more extensively introduced to those poor starving inquiring minds of us: otherwise they are miserably failing in their intent.

So far, from their site I only gathered that Greta, Emma, Ellen, GIJane, Barbara and Oprah are considered inspiring peers of Parks, Tubman, Bader, Wharton, Rankin and Anthony.

I can only assume that in 1980...44 years ago...had you been at this parade, you would have learned about them from the organizers of the gathering.

They probably have more relevance to women and may be better known by them than by a middle aged homosexual male from Barcelona.

There is a certain irony that more than 4 decades on, the women who were being celebrated because they had been largely unrecognized are still not recognized by their photos.

This should not be inferred to mean that they were somehow unimportant.

And all the figures you mention have also contributed in their own way.

Exactly what I said.

And Sarah Palin, Ivanka Trump, Ann Coulter, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift or Kellyanne Conway "have also contributed in their own way"

For better or worse, they have.
