Some day I might get a dog but that's it!
Exactly what we plan on doing. We can not imagine our lives without children. We're aiming in 2-3 years. Ideally, we'd have one each with the same woman. That way, our kids would have a common parent.

I'm beginning to seriously look into adoption, even have gone so far as to contact some agencies. So far, none of them have had problems with a single man wanting to adopt.

I think it's common for people who don't loathe children to consider "someday" as a possibility. I know a lot of gay men who think they'd be good fathers and don't want to cut off the possibility of someday reproducing. Reproduction is, after all, a very powerful urge in the human animal.
Even I, who cannot stand children for more than ten minutes, occasionally consider the possibility. The other day at work, there was this really cute baby who was laughing and gurgling in that way they do (when they're not screaming their heads off), and it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't held a baby in years, and I really wanted to get up and go ask the mother if I could hold hers. And this little voice in the back of my subconscious starts whining "I want one of those!"
Fortunately for everyone, Reason returns to her throne, and I recall that I'd be a horrible parent. I just haven't got the attention-span, the ability to pay attention to something that is not entertaining, required for good parenting.

Yuck, no way. Even if I were straight I would not want children. I am simply too selfish, self-indulgent and I enjoy my freedom too much.
