So after much soul searchin i decided it was time for my dad to find out that i am gay. He is an old school kinda guy which is par for the course having grown in South Africa when he did. Since i live in Canada now i sent him THE LETTER as i couldnt do this over the phone and i really couldnt tell him the next time i am visiting (i happen to be partnered to another jubber who is seriously the sexiest most handsome guy EVER) since i dont travel alone anymore. Much to my joy and relief he seems to be ok with it although i DID sweet blood cause i love and respect my dad tons and it would have killed me inside if the worst happened. I am extatic and i cant wait to introduce my man to the family and friends. So to all those out there still in the closet - i can now empathize and say that it does work out some of the time :)

Congrats on finally being out!!! I'm slowly coming out to my family and hoping it all goes well knowing your dad took it well makes me more confident!!!

Yay exciting! Haven't told my dad yet, but he's basically the only one so I'm sure he's heard it thru the grapevine which isn't too big of a deal. It's not something that is a big part of my life so it's not really necesssary for him to know at least for now.

Congratulations.

I told my dad a couple of years before his death.

I thought he'd pretty much suspected anyway but apparently he didn't.

Life is better when you are out---congratulations.

Wow--great story. Congratulations! :=D:..|

I'm delighted that everything turned out alright, and that your father was so accepting.

All the best with your partner, too! :wave:
