I have a 2003 Ford Mustang GT with a 6 disc CD changer. Today I bought 2 new CDs and loaded them in the player. They worked fine. When I got home I wanted to remove them and take inside to rip to my computer. This changer asks you to select the number to load or eject which one you want. I selected and then heard the grinding of CDs moving and the display came up "CD Error". Now I can't get any of them out or to even play! Does anyone know how this can be corrected?

I checked alldata and I find no TSBs for this symptom.

Now for the technical stuff:

Try pounding on the face with your fist (not too hard) while attempting to eject the CD.

The next avenue would be to remove the unit and take it apart. This may cause more problems, but you'll get your CDs back. Let me know if you need to know how to take it apart.

is the cd changer covered by your warranty?

mine is (VW)

call your dealer and ask; your cd's may be lost but at least they can fix or replace the changer hopefully at no cost.

This reminds me of something that happened to me...

I bought a nice digital camcorder that made me very happy. Then one day, the tape wouldn't eject. Well this would have been no problem since it was under warranty and I could have had them fix it and retrieve the tape for me. Unfortunately, I had recorded myself in some extremely compromising positions that I really didn't care for anyone to see... quite the dilemma.

Oops... lol :=D:

sorry can't help. just wanted to say I have a stang GT also, a 2006.

I think my car is possessed! This morning, I get in and start the engine and all of a sudden, one by one, the CDs start ejecting until all six have come out! Now all appears to be functioning properly. I guess it could have been worse. At least the top didn't get stuck in the down position! (lol) Alls well that ends well.

OMG!! My CD Changer Voodoo works!!

Hey G!

An idea: Join an online Mustang owner's group. You won't believe the stuff you can get help with. If you have a problem (like yours) you can search the data base a likely find a suggestion. If not, you can post a question and generally have an answer within hours.

I belong to a couple of Jeep groups and get everything form fixes to information on secret warranties and the best/least expensive source for a particular part. They've saved my bacon more than a few times.

P.S. If the stuck CD thing ever happens again, try this: Unhook the power source or remove the fuse for the CD player, if you can't find it, unhook the battery. Wait about half an hour (Some unites have capacitors to protect memory in the even of a short power loss) When you reconnect the power the CD player runs a quick "check" and will spit out the disks unless one is physically jammed.
