Downloading IE7... Have I made a mistake ?

I use IE7 at home and at work and I love it so far. No problems at all. Ordered my free upgrade to Windows Vista Premium today (have a new notebook PC with Intel core 2 duo processor and 2 Gig of RAM) so we will see what happens once I get it installed. I'm looking forward to trying out the new Aero interface.

Using IE7 and I love it. No problems yet (knock on wood). I have been using it for a few months now too (back when it was just a Beta)

a phishing filter that I don't trust (you know, Microsoft products always have huge security flaws),

It's that darned 'phishing filter' that's the real pain. (And, btw, WHAT hippie
working for Gates decided to spell it 'phish' ? ;) )

Why, just opening our beloved JUB and changing from page to page on the
forums takes TEN SECONDS each ! (And really, who has that kind of time ? :-) )

Hmm,

I suppose I'll get used to it until I find something else to bitch about.

^ I used the wrong term, should have said "pre'fetching"

"Firefox will, at times, "prefetch" the contents of a web page which it thinks you might want to see soon. If a page is marked as being the "next" page in a series, Firefox, by default, will prefetch that page's contents. (And, yes, for those who have asked for "next" tags for the LWN Weekly Edition, it will happen when we get a chance). When the user hits the link for the next page, it will already be resident in the Firefox cache, and will display more quickly. "

See: http://lwn.net/Articles/139725/

This is also an issue with memory leakage, see: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319262

This function will also add cookies to your computer as everythig on the page has already been stored into your cache.

So what? IE preloads with Windows when I switch on my computer, wasting loading time even though I usually don't use that browser. Also, a lot of programs use the IE engine with all its security risks to display websites inside them.

We'll my honest question is "Are you a web developer who has to test pages w/ 6 versions of IE, 5 versions of Mozilla, 4 of safari and 6 of Opera?" If not, then no you didnt. IE7 is generally a good piece of software since the problems you're experiencing are easily remedied and the features it provides are desperatly needed by most websites.

i don't now any feature in IE 7 that any website needs desperately.
