Has anyone else had more trouble than usual lately downloading You-tube videos using Real Player Plus? I have been getting the message Unable to download video more than usual using Internet Explorer. The Drop down tab on Chrome says Nothing here to download, and in Firefox the Download video option is not even showing up.
Finally, after numerous attempts at different clips in I.Exp. a few successes. None in Chrome or Firefox. Anyone else experiencing difficulties?

I use vdownloader for years now i have to switch because a lot of videos aren't being downloaded thanks to the tv stations blocking it.

For fucks sake, this is 2015, don't use Real Player and Internet Explorer.

Real player?

Don't tell me you use Winamp and DivX player lol.

Just use clipconverter or keepvid. No need to use obsolete software.

Whats wrong with Winamp  still a better choice than windows media player (for playing MP3's atleast)

I use the firefox addon 'DownloadHelper' for YouTube/etc

RealPlayer eh? I only use it when I download ~15 year old files from the internet that are in QuickTime format. I used the downloader once or twice years ago, but it didn't work very well. RealPlayer isn't all that wonderful, but you need it because QuickTime is a proprietary format... not even VLC plays it. I find all that proprietary bullshit irritating (same with Sony's ATRAC format. Luckily it's even less common than QuickTime).

Try Video Download Professional for Firefox. I was recommended this a few days ago and it's wonderful and very simple to use. If you've used DownloadHelper for Firefox, it's very similar.

I might give that a try, I use DownloadHelper. How much better is Video Download Professional?

DownloadHelper quit working for me (I had version 4+). I updated it to version 5+, but I couldn't get it to do anything other that screen captures. I couldn't get it to download any video files. That's when I posted in the Tech forum and VDP was recommended. It's virtually the same as DownloadHelper and, apparently, is available for other browsers besides Firefox.

It sits as a grey icon on your toolbar and switches to a big, blue arrow when a downloadable video is available. Click the arrow, rename the file if you want, and click 'save'. It goes into your default folder that you choose.

Oh cool! Yea, DownloadHelper stopped working after a Firefox update, but an entirely new version was created, which is actually better than the old one.

I've heard Youtube is trying to stop people from downloading videos now.
That is why it doesn't work anymore.

They are? Oh that is shitty. At least for now, DownloadHelper still works on YouTube videos.
Don't worry though, add-ons like this are always one step ahead. That's probably why Adblock Plus still works so well.
