It did tie up a few loose ends, tho.
I thought the regeneration was a bit of an anti climax. Had they run out of money for CGI?

I thought it was a bit meh. I mean, why didn't the doctor just put the townspeople in the tardis and take them away? And then he blew up the town! That's not very nice.

I found it muddled and uninspiring. The humans who suddenly sprouted dalek antenae (or whatever the correct term is) were laughable and the final transition to the Capaldi Doctor was lame.

It's not the tour de force the Day of the Doctor was, but it had it's moments.
Some people are confusing the regen with the reset. The regeneration took place on the bell tower, and the regeneration energy took out the Daleks... remember what happened to the Tardis when 10 became 11. Back in the Tardis, the Doctor told Clara when she commented on him being young again that with another 13 regenerations, the whole regeneration cycle had to reset and that his appearance as 11 would change at any moment... as it did.
That said, I'm looking forward to seeing what Capaldi does with the role. His eyes look like they could pin you to the wall.
We have a few months to wait though. Series eight is supposed to start airing (with no splits) in the UK, August of 2014. I don't know yet if it'll be simulcast in NA at that time.

I hated this Christmas special, especially the narration which doesn't belong in any Doctor Who episode. It was the worst one I've seen so far.
