I was coming home from Job #2 late last night. Stopped behind a guy at a red light, when I glanced up and noticed a guy coming up behind me. "He's going awfully fast," I thought idly, looked away, then looked back. "He's still going awfully fast...and he's not slowing down." All I could do then was brace for impact.

He hit. Hard.

My car flew forward, hit the car in front of me, then rolled to the side. I let out my breath, then put the car in Park, and prepared to get out, trying to remember all the stuff one needs to do after an accident (I've never been in one before).

The guy who hit me backed up a bit, drove around both of us, and left.

I managed to get a partial license number, which was amazing considering I was still quite woozy from the crash, and all I could really think was "He's fucking LEAVING?!" The guy in the other car got a partial description of the guy and the vehicle, as well.

Somehow, I'm fine. My head bumped against something (possibly the sun visor), and I've got a bit of stiffness in both my arms and my neck this morning. But when I saw the back of the car, I realized how lucky I was. The thing is absolutely totalled. Even the driver's seat was broken into pieces. I managed to get all the important stuff out of the trunk (via the backseat - no way I could open the trunk now), but some stuff was wedged in there so tightly it ain't ever coming out.

Cops came, took information.
Ambulance came, did a cursory check on me. I was OK.

The truck left some debris of its own in the street. Between that and our descriptions, they found the guy within minutes. He was so drunk he couldn't understand their request for a DUI test.

Finally got into bed around 3am. Didn't sleep all that well, but I guess that's no surprise. I may go to work late today, or come home early. And it looks like I'm walking for the foreseeable future.

On a brighter note, it's my one year anniversary here on JUB! Yay!

Lex

I hope that they hang the cunt out to dry.

You're very lucky.

Your neck and shoulders will be stiff for the next few days to weeks, I advise plenty of painkillers (especially NSAIDs) and keep moving as much as you can.

Glad you came out of that in one piece.

Lex, I'm so glad you're OK.

And I'm glad they got the guy that did it. Hope they throw the book at him.....

Glad to hear you're okay (if somewhat shaken up) (*8*)

The guy's a moron and him being caught is the best thing that could come out of this, apart from no-one being seriously injured. Now let's all hope that he learns something from this, lest it happen again.

As I said in the other thread I am glad you are okay

And

HAPPY JUB ANNIVERSARY

Glad to see you OK...

I'm honestly surprised that I haven't been involved in a DD accident. They say that 1 in 4 drivers after 10 PM in Wisconsin are drunk. I don't know if it's true, but it's still a terrifying thought. That, plus my family are a bunch of drunks, and I can't think of ONE aunt or uncle who doesn't have at least ONE DUI.

I'll never do it. When I tell Mom that I'm calling a taxi, she says, "Why don't you just drive?" And I go off on a long rant.

Unfortunately, some people even my age don't get it. I know of a girl who isn't even 21 yet, and she has four (4!) DUIs already.

Well, no points on my driver's license! :D

Damn Lex, that is some scary shit.

I am so glad you are OK, and that they found that bastard that did that to you.

Accidents are never fun. You'll probably be stiff for some time (I got t-boned and was sore for about a week) but at least it wasn't worse, heaven forbid.

Oh, and congrats on the one year! (*8*)

(*8*)(*8*)(*8*)(*8*)(*8*) Hugs to the gargoyle.

Wow, what a way to come off a job. ](*,)

Glad to know you're okay, despite some stiffness and soreness you're probably gonna be feeling for awhile.

Now you have an excuse to get a new car. ;)

And uh, oh yeah....happy jub anniversary. :gogirl:

Sorry to hear about that experience of yours Lex.

The sad part of these drunk driving incidents is that these assholes can never seem to remember the incident and therefore show no remorse!!!!:grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:

@ least you're alright.

Happy Birthday BTW(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)

Thankfully you're okay.

Make sure you get a check-up though to see that you don't have disc damage.

And Happy Anniversary.

God, Lex am I glad you're ok.

Hope they nail the asshole. Up here the cops are getting very very nasty with DUI instances. Of course the laws are getting stricter, thus enabling judges to give more reasonable penalities and fines.

I just can't see how someone can get more than two DUI. They should have the book thrown at them on the second instance.

But that our Gargoyle came out ok, is all that matters.

Like some said walk around a lot and try not to sleep or lay down too much. (*8*)(*8*)(*8*)(*8*)(*8*)(*8*)

My banana is dancing for you

(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)

Glad you weren't hurt, but it would probably be a good idea to see a doctor in a few days.

Sometimes injuries aren't felt right away.

Glad you are OK. Glad they caught the dude, too. Both DUI and Hit and Run. Probably he'll be driving next week.

Isn't it surreal when you KNOW you are going to get hit, have time to think about it and brace for the impact you just know is coming? Happened to me once on the way to work years ago. 9:30 AM, the woman that hit me got a ticket for Reckless Driving and Impaired Driving (she admitted she was out the night before).

It's more fun having you despise me and being wrong is just so cool.

For the record, I don't despise anybody on the Internet. I do not think it is possible to have such extremes of emotion (be it love or hate) through online caricatures and personas.
