actually, three strokes; one at home, one more in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and finally, after they got me settled in my room one more one the way to radiology for an MRI.after about three months i was discharged from the hospital and entered a convalescent facility. i stayed there, and got regular physical therapy every day for several more months. by that time i was starting to go bat-shit crazy.
i guess i managed to bully them into letting me leave and go back home to my apartment, even though my left side is completely paralyzed and i couldn't take care of my self. fortunately i have really good insurance that covered in-home health care. but the situation is such that i can't use the bathroom, shower or dress myself let alone walk without help. i finally gave up because trying to do that and being alone at night just wasn't working.add in the fact that my apartment wasn't wheel chair-friendly so i moved into an assisted-living facility. i am confined to my bed and a power chair. friends eventually got me a new computer with a wireless mouse and keyboard.(mine disappeared when i first left the apartment) my flatscreen tv is the moniter and i am just now getting around to pecking at the keyboard with just my right hand, so everything is lower-case.

I recall your many posts and enjoyed reading the wisdom that you shared with us.

I wish you well with your convalescence and hope to read more news on your continuing recovery.

I also wish to send all the men, and women of the United States Navy my best wishes, and thanks for their great contributions to maintaining peace, and stability/

Glad to see you back here and communicating with us again - even if your circumstances are more restricted these days.

Are you still undergoing any rehab? is there any chance your independence will improve given more time? Whatever the answer - welcome back - I hope regaining your interaction with JUB community will provide a welcome diversion for you. (*8*)

WOW -- that post covered a lot of time...

I'm glad to see you're back online -- my mother suffered a TIA a couple of weeks ago and is now undergoing the physical therapy -- so I've been doing a lot of research on strokes lately...

YIGHTZ!!!

I know how scary they can be...

I wish you all the best!!! ..|

And don't sweat the lower case...

:):):)

It's good to know you're doing well. Keep at it and striving to get better each day. I know, it's easier said than done :/ Well, I hope you take it easy for a bit. And don't sweat the lower case letters!

You are a champion.

Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about the trauma you've undergone over the last year, but it's great that you've finally been able to return. It sounds like you have a great amount of support, and hopefully being able to join us here again will help keep away the 'bat-shit' craziness! :)

Sounds like you have one hell of a positive attitude, and it is great that you can reach out on JUB and the internet in general. It is a virtual world. Thanks for sharing your experience.

did not know you from earlier but your experience resonates - because of a medical mistake just spent 8 weeks relearning how to walk, stand up and maintain equilibrium generally - all the best to you - and don't sweat the little stuff, not worth it

How are things going? Is the bat-shitness going away? I see you haven'tbeen posting; are you perusing the forums?
