I see these books requested a lot in the library, but I haven't read them. Are they really good enough and popular enough to warrant a movie? Or is this just another book companies are making into movies for profit?

So I just went to preview eragon. It was an okay movie with some cheesy lines, but overall not to bad. The special effects were great. But the best part of the movie by far is the main character. He is really hot, I would definetly have some fun with him . Overall I would rate the movie a 4 out of 5. Only because of the special effects and the main character. Let me know what you guys think of it if you go see it.

I thought the main character was weird looking and he reminded me of my cousin.

But Jeremy Irons can bend me over a horse any day of the week!

The special effects were fantastic, but I thought the story was contrived and predictable. The reason the dragon chose him was so Disney and obvious, and a lot of the names sounded like random words the author had made up while stoned. They didn't fit somehow.

But when all is said and done... I totally want my very own baby dragon

I try not to judge a movie by it's preview...but this one looks like Dungeons & Dragons with fancier effects. But I heard the books are supposed to be good, so I'll read that first, then maybe rent the movie later.

th ebook and the movie have very little plot in common, just the basic ideas. as a movie by itself it was pretty good, very disney (the book is much more mature), but it murdered the book. however, the amazing bulges are quite nice, i need those pants (and a pet Roran) and a babydragon, that was so cute.

The books were phenomenal! They were constantly out of the library when I worked there. Luckily I had advance copies of both since I went to book conventions. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I wish to see it over my break.

Just got back from seeing it.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was entertaining. No where near LoTR (which they were shooting for) and even below the quality of Narnia.

But yes, the main actor is hot (and so is his cousin he romps around with in the barn). There is even a random shirtless scene where he is washing his chest. Nice body and V-line! The film tried to catch sex appeal even though its for kids lol.

I wouldn't see the movie again and I'm not excited about any sequels. It was entertaining. Nothing more.

Yeah, I agree the main actor is hot now... I didn't like him before but he's hot now that' I've seen the movie. As for the movie itself, I went with my best friend and she's read the book, something I haven't gotten around to yet. She told me there was a lot of crucial stuff missing that would have helped with the storyline. She said she couldn't believe that someone who hasn't read the books would be able to understand the movie. I know, I know, the movie's never as good as the books, but they left out a lot of the rich detail the book's known for, such as the Dwarves and Elves in that one cave-city (Troy something I think). The special effects were spectacular, so I do have to give them props for that. Another thing she said wasn't up to par was the casting. I've read the first few pages of the book, and Aria (I dunno how it's spelled, I haven't gotten to a part where they mention her name) isn't anything like they described in the books... she's supposed to be tall with pointy ears and loooong black hair... she's an elf. And Angela (I think was her name) played by Joss Stone was poop... she's supposed to be older. Oh well. Overall, just as a movie, not as a book-to-movie, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5... it was good, but rushed in my opinion.

I honestly dont like epic trilogies type of novies. Starwars, LOTR, Matrix, None of those... but at least all these brands have a certain interesting something to it. But eragon sounds just meh.. dunno if I would bother to go see it.

Well I actually DID bother to see it, and well while the story was lame and all it was pretty good overall. Very entertaining. Eragon should have had more shirtless scenes cuz the only one that was throwed in was really hawt.

Didn't feel much for the main lead as I was made to believe by the cast leads of Narnia, or even Daniel as HP, but I have to say that Eragon has a HOT HOT body.

Watched the movie twice since its opening.

okay, so, I just got back from watching the movie, which I had been looking forward to seeing for A VERY LONG TIME.

I've read both books several times, and I bought both CD versions to listen to in the car. The ONLY thing this movie had correctly was that Saphira was Blue, but the didn't even have that completely right.

I have never been this angry about a book gone movie, and this movie took "Creative License" to the extreme of perversion. I'd list my outrages, but I doubt any one (much like my husband), wants to hear the rest of my rants.


Out of 5 stars, I'd say it warranted a refund

Barely... they didn't even get the basics of character development right.

It's like if I wrote a story a bought a boy and his dog, and someone used the title of my book to make a movie about a dog that talks to a cat

Well the book(s) were amazing! I couldn't put'em down until I finished them! tHE FIRST ONE WAS ABOUT 600 PAGES which I read in a couple of days and the second one was 900 or so...which I read in 3 days.

The movie follows the path that the Harry potter movies have "opened/cut" : it's very impressive visually, with great action scenes and amazing special effects, but it lacks the emotional and dramatic depth of the book, and a lot of things have been changed and/or ommitted so if you haven't read the book you'll most likely get confused and lost at some point sooner or later! But I agree, Ed Speleers is H - O - T -T -T -TTTTTTTT!!! He's my dream guy! Sexy deep voice (not like most Hollywood teen-stars who look like 13 year old babies and have squeky voices!), tall and lean, natural blonde, blue eyes, freckles....Siiiiigh! He's perfect for me. Sooo sexy!

But a big plus for the movie is its official song, called "Keep Holding On", written and performed by Avril Lavigne! It's F*&)_* fantastic! I fell in love with it from the first few seconds! Avril ROCKS!

I've read Eragon (the first book) and seen the movie. I agree, Ed Speleers is HOTT! The book is amazing, and that's not just for being written by a 15 year-old. The movie really doesn't do it justice. There are two main reasons for this in my opinion. 1)Christopher Paolini (the author of the trilogy) was hardly involved in the making of the movie at all, he was too busy promoting the 2nd book of the trilogy, Eldest, in a tour around Europe and 2) The staff was all too rushed for any real attention to detail. I don't know if any have you have noticed, but Saphira ( the dragon) doesn't speak at all in the previews, even when she was supposed to (note: she doesn't speak with her mouth, she communicates telepathically with Eragon). I suspect this was because the voice actor for her wasn't even hired by the time they did the trailers. They hired her last-minute, as did they Ed Speleers which is why he's off a bit from the book's description of Eragon (brown eyes, not blue, for one). Despite that the movie was still good, nowhere near what it could have been considering its $100,000,000 budget (that's more than Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring had, to my knowledge), but still good.

I suggest buying the book. Yes, I said buy. It is a book you'll want to read over and over. I'm halfway through it on my third time around and I'm still loving it. Seeing the movie is worth it as well so long as you don't expect another LOTR.

The movie was awful. Not bad, just boring. And cheesy. And tedious. I bet even Uwe Boll needed to wash his eyes out after watching (that, or he is actually Fangmeier in disguise).

I tried getting into the film, but after hearing the first line ("I suffer for my stone"), nobody in the theater could keep a straight face.

And the lead guy is cute, but since he looks a lot like this dude I know who really wants to kill me, I quickly forgot about him.

Yyyeah the actor who played Galbatorix is a horrible actor...Ed Speleers wasn't half bad considering that was his first major role. All his acting before then was school plays. And I don't have the homicidal friend lookalike problem, so I can drool over Ed all I want.

And what is up with the names in Eragon? Alagesia (sp) sounds suspiciously like a certain follicular disease, and Galbatorix could either be cough medicine or an SM handle. I haven't read the book, but chalking up Ed's obsession with Arwe- - Arya in the movie to magic was just lame. If I hunted down every dude I dreamt off, I;d be in jail.
