Which team(s) will you be rooting for during the Euro 2012 championship in Poland/Ukraine this summer...and who do you think will win?

I'm hoping Germany (finally) wins! They've been the most consistent team for 5+ years, but seems like they always come up short! I'll be cheering for Spain, the Netherlands, and co-host Poland as well.

I hope my football idol Lukas Podolski does some damage on the field this summer!

I'll be cheering on Germany too. Spain have got to be favourites, and I reckon they'll go far. They might find it difficult to go all the way, though. Both Spain and Barcelona have lost games in recent times to technically inferior sides. Spain can be beaten, but whether other sides have the ability or not is another matter. In 2010, only Switzerland managed it in the group stage. Paraguay came close in the QF, and after that Spain were irresistible. I know they only beat the Netherlands in extra time, but the Dutch never looked like scoring on the day. Despite their negative approach to the final in 2010, I do like the Netherlands, and they're my third favourite.

Poland and Ukraine could be dark horses. In Group A (Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic), any of the teams could realistically progress. That's definitely the most open group of all. If Poland manage to top the group, they may well avoid Spain, which is probably for the best. Ukraine's group is slightly tougher; Ukraine, Sweden, France and England. France and England are the favourites, but both are capable of stumbling. England would seem particularly susceptible due to the FA deciding on Warsaw as its base for the competition. As a result, the team will need to travel from Poland to Ukraine for each of their group games. I know they're professionals, but that may have an impact.

Well since I am Portuguese...I am going for PORTUGAL!

I actually went to a Euro game in 2004 when Portugal hosted it. I had a great time, but I can't remember the two teams.

I'll pick Spain to win, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Germans do it. They have such an exciting young team at the moment.

I'll be supporting Ireland because they are the most skillfull team in Europe right now. Wa ha ha, no, I'll be supporting them cos I'm Irish.

I'll be cheering for Poland. I don't think they'll win but if they make it past the group stage I'll consider the tournament a success. I think Spain and Germany have best chances of winning. If had to pick one to win I would go with Germany.

Hello desertfox

I love your avatar, actually thats an understatement.

I LOVE YOUR AVATAR.

I'm not expecting poland to do much! They always seem to be more workhorses, as in big and strong but not the fastest. I know they've added a few addtitions to their squad so we shall see. I've been wrong before. Quite a bit actually!

^Probably not after Saturday; at least, not officially  :D :p

As always, I'll be wearing orange and hoping the Netherlands take the honours this time around.

So close in WC 2010!

Hey cron9por, Thanks
Are you a Liverpool supporter?

Yep. Used to spend all money going to Anfield.

Oih cheeky!
LFC through thick and thin.

I'm still going for Spain. Don't care so much if Torres scores the winner this time (if he even makes the squad!)

I'll be supporting Spain simply because they play the most beautiful football in the world!
Germany will be strong - they always are, and they're playing some excellent football.
Holland will be a force - but I hope they don't disgrace themselves like they did in the last World Cup final.

Ireland of course and after that truthfully I'm not sure. Just hoping England do their usual of hyping the thing up in which they have the event won and then bomb. That is always funny to watch.

Spain is the favourite to win again, they are still the best team in the world IMO
I can't see any weakness in their squad.
Iniesta and Xavi are the best double act in football, they always make the difference.

Netherland is also a strong team (as usual), Van Persie looks pretty sharp this year with Arsenal, so he could give the Oranges a big boost

England could be the big surprise if Redknapp will be the manager

The German team is too anxious at the moment; especially the key players from Munich after the loss of the CL final against Chelsea. The quarter-final well be their terminal this time.

But don't worry: until then, there is time enough to study the Toni Kroos Bulge carefully...

... ...and the Backside of Mario Gomez, too

Just as expected: Italia with a strong comeback. Tactically perfect, congratulations to coach Prandelli.
Once again the scandals before were a good omen. At least so far.

The match yesterday was on a much higher level than the disappointing encounter between Portugal and Germany...

´

.. and the disappointing Irish against Croatia!

Haven't seen much of the action yet as the matches are on at 4am and 6.45am here. Have to be content with highlights.

But staying up now for England v France in a couple of hours. Hopefully at least one of them goes for it. Don't want a tight affair with both teams afraid to lose their first game.

Italia was mediocre. That game was terrible..

Well, maybe you've mixed up things in a hurry; maybe you have seen a different match of different nations; or you lost your glasses, followed the action only briefly online on a small screen... or whatever.

Even the in general anti-italian adjusted German press attests that it was by far the most outstanding game of the tournament so far. And that Italy played technically and tactically on an exceptional high level:

...... Pressestimmen Spanien - Italien: "Italien verblüfft stürmerlose Spanier" - Sport News - Aktuelle Sportnachrichten - Augsburger Allgemeine

Mediocre was France versus England just a few minutes ago. And disappointing & poor also - as already stated - Germany against Portugal last Saturday.

However, the future is unwritten. And if Italy loses against Croatia on Thursday, this will be most likely the knockout in that dangerous group...
