I haven't gotten out into nature as much as I would like, lately.
I've been working at my vocation. But today I climbed up Silver Star Mountain, a local hike I love.
Every day should be the Fourth of July. We ought to feast and play, eat, drink, run. We ought to suckle on the clouds and drink up the bees' work.
But too many in our society have confused the advice in the Declaration of Independence, and we don't pursue happiness like we could. Instead we pursue prestige, and all the rotten, selfish, uncompassionate economics that flow from our desire for status.
I'm glad I got to put my head up in the mountains for at least a while.
