Well Facebook isn't backing off from it, just like they havent with any of their other iterations.

So you can either adapt and enjoy, or not. I personally don't look in my profile page a lot. I am usually on the stream which didn't change, and when I have a update or message, it opens in a seperate window which also hasn't changed.
